And he brought them before the king of Moab; and they abode with him all the while that David was in the stronghold.

בַּמְּצוּדָֽה׃ (מְּצוּדָֽה) me.tzu.Dah “stronghold”

And the prophet Gad said to David, Abide not in the stronghold; depart, and go into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.

And David swore to Saul. And Saul went home; and David and his men went up to the stronghold.

But David took the stronghold of Zion, which is the city of David.

So David dwelt in the stronghold, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from the Millo and inward.

And the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, and all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard [ergänzt: of it], and went down to the stronghold.

And he said, Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;

And David was then in the stronghold; and the Philistines' garrison was then at Bethlehem.

And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come in hither. But David took the stronghold of Zion, which is the city of David.

He inhabiteth the rock and maketh his dwelling on the point of the cliff, and the fastness:

וּמְצוּדָֽה׃ (מְצוּדָֽה) me.tzu.Dah “a stronghold”

Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I will trust; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.

וּמְצוּדָתִ֗י (מְצוּדָתִ֗) me.tzu.da.T “stronghold”

Incline thine ear to me, deliver me speedily; be a strong rock to me, a house of defence to save me.

מְצוּד֗וֹת me.tzu.Dot “strongholds”

For thou art my rock and my fortress; and, for thy name's sake, thou wilt lead me and guide me.

וּמְצוּדָתִ֣י (מְצוּדָתִ֣) me.tzu.da.T “stronghold”

Be to me a rock of habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.

I say of Jehovah, My refuge and my fortress; my God, I will confide in him.

My mercy and my fortress, my high tower and my deliverer, my shield and he in whom I trust, who subdueth my people under me!
