and if those days had not been cut short, no flesh had been saved; but on account of the elect those days shall be cut short.

ἐκολοβώθησαν ekolobōthēsan “was shortened”κολοβωθήσονται kolobōthēsontai “will be shortened”

and if [ergänzt: the] Lord had not cut short those days, no flesh should have been saved; but on account of the elect whom he has chosen, he has cut short those days.
