Let darkness and the shades of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.

וְ֭צַלְמָוֶת (צַלְמָוֶת) tzal.ma.vet “deep darkness”

Before I go whence I shall not return, even to the land of darkness, and the shades of death;
