H3476–יֹ֫שֶׁר–yo.sher

Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thy heart, dost thou go in to possess their land; but for the wickedness of these nations Jehovah thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may establish the word which Jehovah sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

וּבְיֹ֙שֶׁר֙ (יֹ֙שֶׁר֙) Yo.sher “[the] uprightness of”

And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and mine ordinances;

I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, that are present here, offer willingly unto thee.

How forcible are words of uprightness! But your reproof, what doth it reprove?

יֹ֑שֶׁר Yo.sher “uprightness”

My words [supplied: shall utter] the uprightness of my heart; And that which my lips know they shall speak sincerely.

If there be with him an angel, An interpreter, one among a thousand, To show unto man what is right for him;

Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, For I wait for thee.

I will give thanks unto thee with uprightness of heart, When I learn thy righteous judgments.

Who forsake the paths of uprightness, To walk in the ways of darkness;

I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in paths of uprightness.

There is that scattereth, and increaseth yet more; And there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but [supplied: it tendeth] only to want.

He that walketh in his uprightness feareth Jehovah; But he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.

Also to punish the righteous is not good, [supplied: Nor] to smite the noble for [supplied: their] uprightness.

The Preacher sought to find out acceptable words, and that which was written uprightly, [supplied: even] words of truth.
