thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them; for I, Jehovah thy God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and to the fourth [ergänzt: generation] of them that hate me,

keeping mercy unto thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but by no means clearing [ergänzt: the guilty]; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, upon the third and upon the fourth [ergänzt: generation].
