and if the household be too little for a lamb, then shall he and his neighbor next unto his house take one according to the number of the souls; according to every man's eating ye shall make your count for the lamb.

יִמְעַ֣ט yim.'At “it will be [too] small”

And the children of Israel did so, and gathered some more, some less.

וְהַמַּמְעִֽיט׃ (מַּמְעִֽיט) mam.'It “[one who] made little”

And when they measured it with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating.

וְהַמַּמְעִ֖יט (מַּמְעִ֖יט) mam.'It “[one who] made little”

The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less, than the half shekel, when they give the offering of Jehovah, to make atonement for your souls.

יַמְעִ֔יט yam.'It “he will make little”

According to the multitude of the years thou shalt increase the price thereof, and according to the fewness of the years thou shalt diminish the price of it; for the number of the crops doth he sell unto thee.

מְעֹ֣ט me.'Ot “[the] being small of”תַּמְעִ֖יט tam.'It “you will make small”

And I will send the beast of the field among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your ways shall become desolate.

וְהִמְעִ֖יטָה (הִמְעִ֖יטָה) him.'I.tah “it will diminish”

And the people rose up all that day, and all the night, and all the next day, and gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.

הַמַּמְעִ֕יט (מַּמְעִ֕יט) mam.'It “[one who] did little”

To the more thou shalt give the more inheritance, and to the fewer thou shalt give the less inheritance: to every one according to those that were numbered of him shall his inheritance be given.

תַּמְעִ֖יט tam.'It “you will make small”

And ye shall inherit the land by lot according to your families; to the more ye shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer thou shalt give the less inheritance: wheresoever the lot falleth to any man, that shall be his; according to the tribes of your fathers shall ye inherit.

And concerning the cities which ye shall give of the possession of the children of Israel, from the many ye shall take many; and from the few ye shall take few: every one according to his inheritance which he inheriteth shall give of his cities unto the Levites.

תַּמְעִ֑יטוּ tam.'I.tu “you will decrease”

Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbors, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.

תַּמְעִֽיטִי׃ tam.'I.ti “you make few”

Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the terrible God, who keepest covenant and lovingkindness, let not all the travail seem little before thee, that hath come upon us, on our kings, on our princes, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all thy people, since the time of the kings of Assyria unto this day.

יִמְעַ֣ט yim.'At “it be small”

He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; And he suffereth not their cattle to decrease.

יַמְעִֽיט׃ yam.'It “he made few”

Again, they are diminished and bowed down Through oppression, trouble, and sorrow.

וַיִּמְעֲט֥וּ (יִּמְעֲט֥וּ) i.yim.'a.Tu “they became few”

Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished; But he that gathereth by labor shall have increase.

יִמְעָ֑ט yim.'At “it will become small”

in the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows shall be darkened,

מִעֵ֔טוּ mi.'E.tu “they have become few”

and the residue of the number of the archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be few; for Jehovah, the God of Israel, hath spoken it.

יִמְעָ֑טוּ yim.'A.tu “they will be few”

O Jehovah, correct me, but in measure: not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.

תַּמְעִטֵֽנִי׃ (תַּמְעִטֵֽ) tam.'i.Te. “you should diminish”

Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; and multiply ye there, and be not diminished.

תִּמְעָֽטוּ׃ tim.'A.tu “you diminish”

And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.

יִמְעָ֔טוּ yim.'A.tu “they will diminish”

It shall be the basest of the kingdoms; neither shall it any more lift itself up above the nations: and I will diminish them, that they shall no more rule over the nations.

וְהִ֨מְעַטְתִּ֔ים (הִ֨מְעַטְתִּ֔י) Him.'a.Ti “I will make small”
