G4993–σωφρονέω–sōphroneō

And they come to Jesus, and they see the possessed of demons sitting [ergänzt: and] clothed and sensible, [ergänzt: him] that had had the legion: and they were afraid.

σωφρονοῦντα, sōphronounta “sound minded,”

And they went out to see what had happened, and came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting, clothed and sensible, at the feet of Jesus. And they were afraid.

σωφρονοῦντα sōphronounta “being of sound mind”

For I say, through the grace which has been given to me, to every one that is among you, not to have high thoughts above what he should think; but to think so as to be wise, as God has dealt to each a measure of faith.

σωφρονεῖν, sōphronein “to be sober-minded,”

For whether we are beside ourselves, [ergänzt: it is] to God; or are sober, [ergänzt: it is] for you.

σωφρονοῦμεν, sōphronoumen “we are sober-minded”

The younger men in like manner exhort to be discreet:

σωφρονεῖν, sōphronein “to be self-controlled,”

But the end of all things is drawn nigh: be sober therefore, and be watchful unto prayers;

σωφρονήσατε sōphronēsate “do be clear-minded”
