but this thing I commanded them, saying, Hearken unto my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people; and walk ye in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.

אוֹתָ֤ם (ם) m “them”

And thou shalt speak all these words unto them; but they will not hearken to thee: thou shalt also call unto them; but they will not answer thee.

אֲלֵיהֶם֙ (הֶם֙) Hem “them”אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם (הֶ֖ם) Hem “them”

And thou shalt say unto them, This is the nation that hath not hearkened to the voice of Jehovah their God, nor received instruction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.

אֲלֵיהֶ֗ם (הֶ֗ם) Hem “them”

and they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, which they have loved, and which they have served, and after which they have walked, and which they have sought, and which they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried, they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth.

And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue that remain of this evil family, that remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith Jehovah of hosts.

הִדַּחְתִּ֣ים (ם) m “them”

Moreover thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah: Shall men fall, and not rise up again? Shall one turn away, and not return?

אֲלֵיהֶ֗ם (הֶ֗ם) Hem “them”

The wise men are put to shame, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of Jehovah; and what manner of wisdom is in them?

לָהֶֽם׃ (הֶֽם) Hem “them”

I will utterly consume them, saith Jehovah: there shall be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig-tree, and the leaf shall fade; and [ergänzt: the things that] I have given them shall pass away from them.

אֲסִיפֵ֖ם (ם) m “them”לָהֶ֖ם (הֶ֖ם) Hem “them”יַעַבְרֽוּם׃ (ם) m “them”

For, behold, I will send serpents, adders, among you, which will not be charmed; and they shall bite you, saith Jehovah.

לָהֶ֖ם (הֶ֖ם) Hem “them”

Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging-place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.

מֵֽאִתָּ֑ם (ם) m “them”

Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how [ergänzt: else] should I do, because of the daughter of my people?

צוֹרְפָ֖ם (ם) m “them”וּבְחַנְתִּ֑ים (ם) m “them”

Shall I not visit them for these things? saith Jehovah; shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

בָּ֖ם (ם) m “them”

but have walked after the stubbornness of their own heart, and after the Baalim, which their fathers taught them;

לִמְּד֖וּם (ם) m “them”

therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.

מַאֲכִילָ֛ם (ם) m “them”וְהִשְׁקִיתִ֖ים (ם) m “them”

I will scatter them also among the nations, whom neither they nor their fathers have known; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them.

וַהֲפִֽצוֹתִים֙ (ם֙) m “them”אַֽחֲרֵיהֶם֙ (הֶם֙) Hem “them”אוֹתָֽם׃ (ם) m “them”

thus saith Jehovah, Learn not the way of the nations, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the nations are dismayed at them.

מֵהֵֽמָּה׃ (הֵֽמָּה) He.mah “them”

They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

יְחַזְּק֖וּם (ם) m “them”

They are like a palm-tree, of turned work, and speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither is it in them to do good.

מֵהֶם֙ (הֶם֙) Hem “them”אוֹתָֽם׃ (ם) m “them”

Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, these shall perish from the earth, and from under the heavens.

לְה֔וֹם (ה֔וֹם) Hom “them”

Every man is become brutish [ergänzt: and is] without knowledge; every goldsmith is put to shame by his graven image; for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.

בָּֽם׃ (ם) m “them”

For thus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of the land at this time, and will distress them, that they may feel [ergänzt: it].

לָהֶ֖ם (הֶ֖ם) Hem “them”

Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;

וְדִבַּרְתָּם֙ (ם֙) m “them”

and say thou unto them, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Cursed be the man that heareth not the words of this covenant,

אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם (הֶ֔ם) Hem “them”

which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God;

that I may establish the oath which I sware unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as at this day. Then answered I, and said, Amen, O Jehovah.
