Now the hole into which Ishmael had put the dead bodies of the men whom he had put to death, was the great hole which Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha, king of Israel: and Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, made it full of the bodies of those who had

וְהַבּ֗וֹר (הַ) ha. “the”הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים (הָ) ha. “the”הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ (הַ) ha. “the”

Then Ishmael took away as prisoners all the rest of the people who were in Mizpah, the king's daughters and all the people still in Mizpah, whom Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, had put under the care of Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam: Ishmael, th

הָעָ֜ם (הָ) ha. “the”הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ (הַ) ha. “the”הָעָם֙ (הָ) ha. “the”הַנִּשְׁאָרִ֣ים (הַ) ha. “who”

But when Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the armed forces who were with him, had news of all the evil which Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, had done,

הַחֲיָלִ֖ים (הַ) ha. “the”הָֽרָעָה֙ (הָֽ) ha. “the”

They took their men and went out to make war on Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, and they came face to face with him by the great waters in Gibeon.

הָ֣אֲנָשִׁ֔ים (הָ֣) ha. “the”

Now when all the people who were with Ishmael saw Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces with him, then they were glad.

הָעָם֙ (הָ) ha. “the”הַחֲיָלִ֖ים (הַ) ha. “the”

And all the people whom Ishmael had taken away prisoners from Mizpah, turning round, came back and went to Johanan, the son of Kareah.

הָעָ֔ם (הָ) ha. “the”הַמִּצְפָּ֑ה (הַ) ha. “<the>”

Then Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were with him, took all the rest of the people whom Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, had made prisoners, after he had put to death Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the people from Mizpah,

הַחֲיָלִ֣ים (הַ) ha. “the”הָעָם֙ (הָ) ha. “the”הַמִּצְפָּ֔ה (הַ) ha. “<the>”הַמִּלְחָמָ֗ה (הַ) ha. “<the>”

Because of the Chaldaeans: for they were in fear of them because Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, had put to death Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon had made ruler over the land.

הַכַּשְׂדִּ֔ים (הַ) ha. “the”

Then all the captains of the forces, and Johanan, the son of Kareah, and Jezaniah, the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least to the greatest, came near,

הַחֲיָלִ֔ים (הַ) ha. “the”הָעָ֖ם (הָ) ha. “the”

And said to Jeremiah the prophet, Let our request come before you, and make prayer for us to the Lord your God, even for this small band of us; for we are only a small band out of what was a great number, as your eyes may see:

הַנָּבִ֗יא (הַ) ha. “the”הַשְּׁאֵרִ֣ית (הַ) ha. “the”הַזֹּ֑את (הַ) ha. “<the>”

That the Lord your God may make clear to us the way in which we are to go and what we are to do.

הַדֶּ֖רֶךְ (הַ) ha. “the”הַדָּבָ֖ר (הַ) ha. “the”

Then Jeremiah the prophet said to them, I have given ear to you; see, I will make prayer to the Lord your God, as you have said; and it will be that, whatever the Lord may say in answer to you, I will give you word of it, keeping nothing back.

הַנָּבִיא֙ (הַ) ha. “the”הַדָּבָר֩ (הַ) ha. “<the>”

Then they said to Jeremiah, May the Lord be a true witness against us in good faith, if we do not do everything which the Lord your God sends you to say to us.

הַ֠דָּבָר (הַ֠) Ha. “<the>”

And he sent for Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were still with him, and all the people, from the least to the greatest,

הַחֲיָלִ֖ים (הַ) ha. “the”הָעָ֔ם (הָ) ha. “the”

If you still go on living in the land, then I will go on building you up and not pulling you down, planting you and not uprooting you: for my purpose of doing evil to you has been changed.

הַזֹּ֔את (הַ) ha. “<the>”הָ֣רָעָ֔ה (הָ֣) ha. “the”

But if you say, We have no desire to go on living in this land; and do not give ear to the voice of the Lord your God,

הַזֹּ֑את (הַ) ha. “<the>”

Then it will come about that the sword, which is the cause of your fear, will overtake you there in the land of Egypt, and need of food, which you are fearing, will go after you there in Egypt; and there death will come to you.

הַחֶ֗רֶב (הַ) ha. “the”וְהָרָעָ֞ב (הָ) ha. “the”

Such will be the fate of all the men whose minds are fixed on going into Egypt and stopping there; they will come to their end by the sword, by being short of food, and by disease: not one of them will keep his life or get away from the evil which I will

הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים (הָ) ha. “the”הָֽרָעָ֔ה (הָֽ) ha. “the”

For this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said: As my wrath and passion have been let loose on the people of Jerusalem, so will my passion be let loose on you when you go into Egypt: and you will become an oath and a cause of wonder and

הַמָּק֖וֹם (הַ) ha. “the”הַזֶּֽה׃ (הַ) ha. “<the>”

The Lord has said about you, O last of Judah, Go not into Egypt: be certain that I have given witness to you this day.

הַיּֽוֹם׃ (הַ) hai. “this”

And this day I have made it clear to you, and you have not given ear to the voice of the Lord your God in anything for which he has sent me to you.

הַיּ֑וֹם (הַ) hai. “this”

And it came about that when Jeremiah had come to the end of giving all the people the words of the Lord their God, which the Lord their God had sent him to say to them, even all these words,

הָעָ֗ם (הָ) ha. “the”הַדְּבָרִ֖ים (הַ) ha. “the”הָאֵֽלֶּה׃ (הָ) ha. “<the>”

Then Azariah, the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the men of pride, said to Jeremiah, You have said what is false: the Lord our God has not sent you to say, You are not to go into the land of Egypt and make your living-place ther

הָאֲנָשִׁ֖ים (הָ) ha. “the”הַזֵּדִ֑ים (הַ) ha. “<the>”

But Baruch, the son of Neriah, is moving you against us, to give us up into the hands of the Chaldaeans so that they may put us to death, and take us away prisoners into Babylon.

הַכַּשְׂדִּים֙ (הַ) ha. “the”

So Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, and all the people, did not give ear to the order of the Lord that they were to go on living in the land of Judah.

הַחֲיָלִ֛ים (הַ) ha. “the”הָעָ֖ם (הָ) ha. “the”
