And Pharaoh's army was come forth out of Egypt; and when the Chaldeans that besieged Jerusalem heard tidings of them, they broke up from Jerusalem.

הַכַּשְׂדִּ֜ים (הַ) ha. “the”הַצָּרִ֤ים (הַ) ha. “who”

Then came the word of the LORD unto the prophet Jeremiah, saying:

הַנָּבִ֖יא (הַ) ha. “the”

'Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel: Thus shall ye say to the king of Judah, that sent you unto Me to inquire of Me: Behold, Pharaoh's army, which is come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land.

הַשֹּׁלֵ֧חַ (הַ) ha. “who”הַיֹּצֵ֤א (הַ) hai. “which”

And the Chaldeans shall return, and fight against this city; and they shall take it, and burn it with fire.

הַכַּשְׂדִּ֔ים (הַ) ha. “the”הָעִ֣יר (הָ) ha. “the”הַזֹּ֑את (הַ) ha. “<the>”

Thus saith the LORD: Deceive not yourselves, saying: The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us; for they shall not depart.

הַכַּשְׂדִּ֑ים (הַ) ha. “the”

For though ye had smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yet would they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.'

הַנִּלְחָמִ֣ים (הַ) ha. “who”הָעִ֥יר (הָ) ha. “the”הַזֹּ֖את (הַ) ha. “<the>”

And it came to pass, that when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh's army,

הַכַּשְׂדִּ֔ים (הַ) ha. “the”

then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to receive his portion there, in the midst of the people.

הָעָֽם׃ (הָ) ha. “the”

And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he laid hold on Jeremiah the prophet, saying: 'Thou fallest away to the Chaldeans.'

הַנָּבִיא֙ (הַ) ha. “the”הַכַּשְׂדִּ֖ים (הַ) ha. “the”

Then said Jeremiah: 'It is false; I fall not away to the Chaldeans'; but he hearkened not to him; so Irijah laid hold on Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.

הַכַּשְׂדִּ֔ים (הַ) ha. “the”הַשָּׂרִֽים׃ (הַ) ha. “the”

And the princes were wroth with Jeremiah, and smote him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe; for they had made that the prison.

הַשָּׂרִ֛ים (הַ) ha. “the”הָאֵס֗וּר (הָ) ha. “<the>”הַסֹּפֵ֔ר (הַ) ha. “the”הַכֶּֽלֶא׃ (הַ) ha. “<the>”

When Jeremiah was come into the dungeon-house, and into the cells, and Jeremiah had remained there many days;

הַבּ֖וֹר (הַ) ha. “the”הַֽחֲנֻ֑יוֹת (הַֽ) ha. “the”

then Zedekiah the king sent, and fetched him; and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said: 'Is there any word from the LORD?' And Jeremiah said: 'There is.' He said also: 'Thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.'

הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ (הַ) ha. “the”הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ (הַ) ha. “the”

Moreover Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah: 'Wherein have I sinned against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in prison?

הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ (הַ) ha. “the”הַזֶּ֔ה (הַ) ha. “<the>”הַכֶּֽלֶא׃ (הַ) ha. “<the>”

Where now are your prophets that prophesied unto you, saying: The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?

הָאָ֥רֶץ (הָ) ha. “the”הַזֹּֽאת׃ (הַ) ha. “<the>”

And now hear, I pray thee, O my lord the king: let my supplication, I pray thee, be presented before thee; that thou cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.'

הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ (הַ) ha. “the”הַסֹּפֵ֔ר (הַ) ha. “the”

Then Zedekiah the king commanded, and they committed Jeremiah into the court of the guard, and they gave him daily a loaf of bread out of the bakers' street, until all the bread in the city was spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.

הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ (הַ) ha. “the”הַמַּטָּרָה֒ (הַ) ha. “the”הָאֹפִ֔ים (הָ) ha. “the”הַלֶּ֖חֶם (הַ) ha. “the”הָעִ֑יר (הָ) ha. “the”הַמַּטָּרָֽה׃ (הַ) ha. “the”

And Shephatiah the son of Mattan, and Gedaliah the son of Pashhur, and Jucal the son of Shelemiah, and Pashhur the son of Malchiah, heard the words that Jeremiah spoke unto all the people, saying:

הַדְּבָרִ֔ים (הַ) ha. “the”הָעָ֖ם (הָ) ha. “the”

'Thus saith the LORD: He that remaineth in this city shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence; but he that goeth forth to the Chaldeans shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a prey, and he shall live.

הַיֹּשֵׁב֙ (הַ) hai. “the”הַזֹּ֔את (הַ) ha. “<the>”וְהַיֹּצֵ֤א (הַ) hai. “the”הַכַּשְׂדִּים֙ (הַ) ha. “the”

Thus saith the LORD: This city shall surely be given into the hand of the army of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it.'

הָעִ֣יר (הָ) ha. “the”הַזֹּ֗את (הַ) ha. “<the>”

Then the princes said unto the king: 'Let this man, we pray thee, be put to death; forasmuch as he weakeneth the hands of the men of war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them; for this man seeketh not

הַשָּׂרִ֜ים (הַ) ha. “the”הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ (הַ) ha. “the”הָאִ֣ישׁ (הָ) ha. “the”הַזֶּה֒ (הַ) ha. “<the>”הַמִּלְחָמָ֜ה (הַ) ha. “<the>”הַֽנִּשְׁאָרִ֣ים׀ (הַֽ) ha. “who”הַזֹּ֗את (הַ) ha. “<the>”הָעָ֔ם (הָ) ha. “the”הָאֵ֑לֶּה (הָ) ha. “<the>”הָאִ֣ישׁ (הָ) ha. “the”הַזֶּ֗ה (הַ) ha. “<the>”הַזֶּ֖ה (הַ) ha. “<the>”

Then Zedekiah the king said: 'Behold, he is in your hand; for the king is not he that can do any thing against you.'

הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ (הַ) ha. “the”הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ (הַ) ha. “the”

Then took they Jeremiah, and cast him into the pit of Malchiah the king's son, that was in the court of the guard; and they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the pit there was no water, but mire; and Jeremiah sank in the mire.

הַבּ֣וֹר׀ (הַ) ha. “the”הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ (הַ) ha. “the”הַמַּטָּרָ֔ה (הַ) ha. “the”

Now when Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, an officer, who was in the king's house, heard that they had put Jeremiah in the pit; the king then sitting in the gate of Benjamin;

הַכּוּשִׁ֜י (הַ) ha. “the”הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ (הַ) ha. “the”הַבּ֑וֹר (הַ) ha. “the”וְהַמֶּ֥לֶךְ (הַ) ha. “the”

Ebed-melech went forth out of the king's house, and spoke to the king, saying:
