Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure; come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go; for ye have not passed this way heretofore.'

הַדֶּ֙רֶךְ֙ (הַ) ha. “the”

And Joshua said unto the people: 'Sanctify yourselves; for to-morrow the LORD will do wonders among you.'

הָעָ֖ם (הָ) ha. “the”

And Joshua spoke unto the priests, saying: 'Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass on before the people.' And they took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people.

הַכֹּהֲנִ֣ים (הַ) ha. “the”הַבְּרִ֔ית (הַ) ha. “the”הָעָ֑ם (הָ) ha. “the”הַבְּרִ֔ית (הַ) ha. “the”הָעָֽם׃ (הָ) ha. “the”

And the LORD said unto Joshua: 'This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.

הַיּ֣וֹם (הַ) hai. “the”הַזֶּ֗ה (הַ) ha. “<the>”

And thou shalt command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying: When ye are come to the brink of the waters of the Jordan, ye shall stand still in the Jordan.'

הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים (הַ) ha. “the”הַבְּרִ֖ית (הַ) ha. “the”הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן (הַ) hai. “the”

And Joshua said: 'Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you, and that He will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Hivite, and the Perizzite, and the Girgashite, and the Amorite, and the Jebusite.

Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth passeth on before you over the Jordan.

And it shall come to pass, when the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of the Jordan, that the waters of the Jordan shall be cut off, even the waters that come down from abo

And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over the Jordan, the priests that bore the ark of the covenant being before the people;

הָעָם֙ (הָ) ha. “the”הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן (הַ) hai. “the”וְהַכֹּהֲנִ֗ים (הַ) ha. “the”הָאָר֥וֹן (הָ) ha. “the”הַבְּרִ֖ית (הַ) ha. “the”הָעָֽם׃ (הָ) ha. “the”

and when they that bore the ark were come unto the Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bore the ark were dipped in the brink of the water--for the Jordan overfloweth all its banks all the time of harvest--

that the waters which came down from above stood, and rose up in one heap, a great way off from Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan; and those that went down toward the sea of the Arabah, even the Salt Sea, were wholly cut off; and the people passed o

And the priests that bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan, while all Israel passed over on dry ground, until all the nation were passed clean over the Jordan.

הַכֹּהֲנִ֡ים (הַ) ha. “the”הָאָר֨וֹן (הָ) ha. “the”הַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן (הַ) hai. “the”הַגּ֔וֹי (הַ) ha. “the”הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃ (הַ) hai. “the”

And it came to pass, when all the nation were clean passed over the Jordan, that the LORD spoke unto Joshua, saying:

הַגּ֔וֹי (הַ) ha. “the”הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן (הַ) hai. “the”

'Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,

הָעָ֔ם (הָ) ha. “the”

and command ye them, saying: Take you hence out of the midst of the Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood, twelve stones made ready, and carry them over with you, and lay them down in the lodging-place, where ye shall lodge this night.'

הַיַּרְדֵּ֗ן (הַ) hai. “the”הַכֹּהֲנִ֔ים (הַ) ha. “the”הַלָּֽיְלָה׃ (הַ) ha. “this”

Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man;

הֶֽעָשָׂר֙ (הֶֽ) he. “the”

and Joshua said unto them: 'Pass on before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of the Jordan, and take you up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel;

הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן (הַ) hai. “the”

that this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask in time to come, saying: What mean ye by these stones?

הָאֲבָנִ֥ים (הָ) ha. “[are] the”הָאֵ֖לֶּה (הָ) ha. “<the>”

then ye shall say unto them: Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off; and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Is

And the children of Israel did so as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, as the LORD spoke unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel; and they carried them over with them unto the

הַיַּרְדֵּ֗ן (הַ) hai. “the”הַמָּל֔וֹן (הַ) ha. “the”

Joshua also set up twelve stones in the midst of the Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests that bore the ark of the covenant stood; and they are there unto this day.

הַיַּרְדֵּן֒ (הַ) hai. “the”הַכֹּהֲנִ֔ים (הַ) ha. “the”הַבְּרִ֑ית (הַ) ha. “the”הַיּ֥וֹם (הַ) hai. “the”הַזֶּֽה׃ (הַ) ha. “<the>”

And the priests that bore the ark stood in the midst of the Jordan, until every thing was finished that the LORD commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua; and the people hastened and passed over.

And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over, that the ark of the LORD passed on, and the priests, before the people.

And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, passed on armed before the children of Israel, as Moses spoke unto them;

about forty thousand ready armed for war passed on in the presence of the LORD unto battle, to the plains of Jericho.
