Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, hearkened unto the voice of the LORD their God, and unto the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him; and

בְּקוֹל֙ (בְּ) be. “to”

Then spoke Haggai the LORD'S messenger in the LORD'S message unto the people, saying: 'I am with you, saith the LORD.'

בְּמַלְאֲכ֥וּת (בְּ) be. “by”

And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD

בְּבֵית־ (בְּ) be. “in”

in the four and twentieth day of the month, in the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.

בְּי֨וֹם (בְּ) be. “on”בַּשִּׁשִּׁ֑י (בַּ) ba. “in the”בִּשְׁנַ֥ת (בִּ) bi “in”

In the seventh month, in the one and twentieth day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying:

בַּשְּׁבִיעִ֕י (בַּ) ba. “in the”בְּעֶשְׂרִ֥ים (בְּ) be. “on”בְּיַד־ (בְּ) be. “by”

Who is left among you that saw this house in its former glory? and how do ye see it now? is not such a one as nothing in your eyes?

בָכֶם֙ (בָ) va. “among”בִּכְבוֹד֖וֹ (בִּ) bi “in”בְּעֵינֵיכֶֽם׃ (בְּ) be. “in”

The word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt have I established, and My spirit abideth among you; fear ye not.

The glory of this latter house shall be greater than that of the former, saith the LORD of hosts; and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.'

In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying:

בְּעֶשְׂרִ֤ים (בְּ) be. “on”בִּשְׁנַ֥ת (בִּ) bi “in”

If one bear hallowed flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any food, shall it be holy?' And the priests answered and said: 'No.'

Then said Haggai: 'If one that is unclean by a dead body touch any of these, shall it be unclean?' And the priests answered and said: 'It shall be unclean.'

And now, I pray you, consider from this day and forward--before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD,

בְּהֵיכַ֥ל (בְּ) be. “in”

I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the work of your hands; yet ye turned not to Me, saith the LORD--

And the word of the LORD came the second time unto Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying:

בְּעֶשְׂרִ֧ים (בְּ) be. “on”

and I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his br

In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, My servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a signet; for I have chosen thee, saith the LORD of hosts.'

IN THE eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, the prophet, saying:

Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, the prophet, saying--

I saw in the night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle-trees that were in the bottom; and behind him there were horses, red, sorrel, and white.

בַּמְּצֻלָ֑ה (בַּ) ba. “[were] in the”

Then said I: 'O my lord, what are these?' And the angel that spoke with me said unto me: 'I will show thee what these are.'

And the man that stood among the myrtle-trees answered and said: 'These are they whom the LORD hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth.'

And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle-trees, and said: 'We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.'

And the LORD answered the angel that spoke with me with good words, even comforting words--

so the angel that spoke with me said unto me: 'Proclaim thou, saying: Thus saith the LORD of hosts: I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy;
