And I arose, and went forth into the valley, and behold, the glory of Jehovah stood there, like the glory which I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell on my face.

וְהִנֵּה־ (וְ) ve. “and”

And thou, son of man, behold, they shall put bands upon thee, and shall bind thee therewith, and thou shalt not go out among them.

וְאַתָּ֣ה (וְ) ve. “and”וְלֹ֥א (וְ) ve. “and”

And I will make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be to them a reprover; for they are a rebellious house.

וּלְשֽׁוֹנְךָ֙ (וּ) u. “and”וְלֹא־ (וְ) ve. “and”

And when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house.

וּֽבְדַבְּרִ֤י (וּֽ) u. “and”וְהֶחָדֵ֣ל׀ (וְ) ve. “and”

And thou, son of man, take thee a brick, and lay it before thee, and portray upon it a city, -- Jerusalem:

וְאַתָּ֤ה (וְ) ve. “and”

and lay siege against it, and build forts against it, and cast a mound against it, and set camps against it, and place battering-rams against it round about.

וְשִׂים־ (וְ) ve. “and”

And take thou unto thee an iron plate, and put it [ergänzt: for] a wall of iron between thee and the city; and set thy face against it, and it shall be besieged, and thou shalt lay siege against it: this shall be a sign to the house of Israel.

וְאַתָּ֤ה (וְ) ve. “and”וּבֵ֣ין (וּ) u. “and”

And thou, lie upon thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it: the number of the days that thou liest upon it, thou shalt bear their iniquity.

וְאַתָּ֤ה (וְ) ve. “and”

And I have appointed thee the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days; and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.

וַאֲנִ֗י (וַ) va. “and”וְתִשְׁעִ֖ים (וְ) ve. “and”

And thou shalt set thy face toward the siege of Jerusalem, and thine arm shall be uncovered, and thou shalt prophesy against it.

וְאֶל־ (וְ) ve. “and”וּֽזְרֹעֲךָ֖ (וּֽ) u. “and”

And behold, I lay bands upon thee, and thou shalt not turn thyself from one side to the other, till thou hast ended the days of thy siege.

וְהִנֵּ֛ה (וְ) ve. “and”וְלֹֽא־ (וְ) ve. “and”

And thou, take unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentils, and millet, and spelt, and put them in one vessel, and make thee bread thereof, [ergänzt: according to] the number of the days that thou liest upon thy side: three hundred and ninety days shalt thou eat thereof.

וְאַתָּ֣ה (וְ) ve. “and”וּ֠שְׂעֹרִים (וּ֠) U. “and”וּפ֨וֹל (וּ) u. “and”וַעֲדָשִׁ֜ים (וַ) va. “and”וְדֹ֣חַן (וְ) ve. “and”וְכֻסְּמִ֗ים (וְ) ve. “and”וְתִשְׁעִ֛ים (וְ) ve. “and”

And thy meat which thou shalt eat shall be by weight, twenty shekels a day: from time to time shalt thou eat it.

וּמַאֲכָֽלְךָ֙ (וּ) u. “and”

And thou shalt drink water by measure, the sixth part of a hin: from time to time shalt thou drink.

וּמַ֛יִם (וּ) u. “and”

And thou shalt eat it [ergänzt: as] barley-cake, and thou shalt bake it in their sight with dung that cometh out of man.

וְעֻגַ֥ת (וְ) ve. “and”וְהִ֗יא (וְ) ve. “and”

Then said I, Ah, Lord Jehovah! behold, my soul hath not been defiled, and from my youth up even until now have I not eaten of that which dieth of itself, or of that which is torn; neither came there abominable flesh into my mouth.

וּנְבֵלָ֨ה (וּ) u. “and”וּטְרֵפָ֤ה (וּ) u. “and”וְעַד־ (וְ) ve. “and”וְלֹא־ (וְ) ve. “and”

And he said unto me, Son of man, behold, I break the staff of bread in Jerusalem; and they shall eat bread by weight, and with anxiety; and they shall drink water by measure, and with astonishment:

וּבִדְאָגָ֑ה (וּ) u. “and”וּמַ֕יִם (וּ) u. “and”וּבְשִׁמָּמ֖וֹן (וּ) u. “and”

because bread and water shall fail them, and they shall be astonied one with another, and waste away in their iniquity.

וָמָ֑יִם (וָ) va. “and”וְאָחִ֔יו (וְ) ve. “and”

And thou, son of man, take thee a sharp knife; a barber's razor shalt thou take; and cause it to pass upon thy head and upon thy beard: and thou shalt take balances to weigh, and divide the [ergänzt: hair].

וְאַתָּ֨ה (וְ) ve. “and”וְעַל־ (וְ) ve. “and”

A third part shalt thou burn in the fire in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled; and thou shalt take a third part, [ergänzt: and] smite about it with a knife; and a third part thou shalt scatter to the wind, and I will draw out a sword after them.

וְהַשְּׁלִשִׁית֙ (וְ) ve. “and”וְחֶ֖רֶב (וְ) ve. “and”

and thou shalt take of these again, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire: from it shall a fire come forth against all the house of Israel.

וּמֵהֶם֙ (וּ) u. “and”

Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: This is Jerusalem: I have set her in the midst of the nations, and the countries are round about her.

וּסְבִיבוֹתֶ֖יהָ (וּ) u. “and”

And she hath rebelled against my judgments in wickedness more than the nations, and against my statutes more than the countries that are round about her: for mine ordinances have they refused; and my statutes, they have not walked in them.

וְאֶ֨ת־ (וְ) ve. “and”וְחֻקּוֹתַ֖י (וְ) ve. “and”

Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye have been turbulent more than the nations that are round about you, [ergänzt: and] have not walked in my statutes, neither have kept mine ordinances, nor [ergänzt: even] have done according to the ordinances of the nations that are round about you;

וְאֶת־ (וְ) ve. “and”וּֽכְמִשְׁפְּטֵ֧י (וּֽ) u. “and”

and I will do in thee that which I have not done, and whereunto I will not do any more the like, because of all thine abominations.
