H9002–/וְ–v

And Jehovah said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years, a sign and a wonder concerning Egypt and concerning Ethiopia,

וְיָחֵ֑ף (וְ) ve. “and”וּמוֹפֵ֔ת (וּ) u. “and”וְעַל־ (וְ) ve. “and”

so shall the king of Assyria lead away the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Ethiopia, young and old, naked and barefoot, and with buttocks uncovered, [ergänzt: to] the shame of Egypt.

וְאֶת־ (וְ) ve. “and”וּזְקֵנִ֖ים (וּ) u. “and”וְיָחֵ֑ף (וְ) ve. “and”וַחֲשׂוּפַ֥י (וַ) va. “and”

And they shall be terrified and ashamed of Ethiopia their confidence, and of Egypt their boast.

וּמִן־ (וּ) u. “and”

And the inhabitants of this coast shall say in that day, Behold, such is our confidence, whither we fled for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria; and how shall we escape?

וְאֵ֖יךְ (וְ) ve. “and”

A grievous vision is declared unto me: the treacherous dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, Elam! besiege, Media! All the sighing thereof have I made to cease.

וְהַשּׁוֹדֵ֣ד׀ (וְ) ve. “and”

And he cried [ergänzt: as] a lion, Lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights.

וְעַל־ (וְ) ve. “and”

-- And behold, there cometh a chariot of men; horsemen by pairs. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.

וְהִנֵּה־ (וְ) ve. “and”וְכָל־ (וְ) ve. “and”

O my threshing, and the corn of my floor! What I have heard of Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you.

וּבֶן־ (וּ) u. “and”

The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will inquire, inquire; return, come.

וְגַם־ (וְ) ve. “and”

For they flee from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war.

וּמִפְּנֵי֙ (וּ) u. “and”וּמִפְּנֵ֖י (וּ) u. “and”

and the residue of the number of the archers, the mighty men of the sons of Kedar, shall be diminished: for Jehovah, the God of Israel, hath spoken.

וּשְׁאָ֧ר (וּ) u. “and”

Thou that wast full of stir, a town of tumult, a joyous city: thy slain men are not slain with the sword, nor dead in battle.

וְלֹ֖א (וְ) ve. “and”

For it is a day of trouble, and of treading down, and of perplexity, from the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, in the valley of vision; [ergänzt: a day of] breaking down the wall, and of crying to the mountain:

וּמְבוּסָ֜ה (וּ) u. “and”וּמְבוּכָ֗ה (וּ) u. “and”וְשׁ֥וֹעַ (וְ) ve. “and”

-- Elam beareth the quiver with chariots of men [ergänzt: and] horsemen; and Kir uncovereth the shield.

וְעֵילָם֙ (וְ) ve. “and”וְקִ֥יר (וְ) ve. “and”

And it shall come to pass [ergänzt: that] thy choicest valleys shall be full of chariots, and the horsemen shall set themselves in array at the gate.

וְהַפָּ֣רָשִׁ֔ים (וְ) ve. “and”

and ye have seen the breaches of the city of David, that they are many; and ye have gathered together the waters of the lower pool;

וְאֵ֨ת (וְ) ve. “and”

and ye have numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and have broken down the houses to fortify the wall;

וְאֶת־ (וְ) ve. “and”

and ye have made a reservoir between the two walls for the water of the old pool: but ye have not had regard unto the maker thereof, neither have ye looked unto him that fashioned it long ago.

וּמִקְוָ֣ה׀ (וּ) u. “and”וְלֹ֤א (וְ) ve. “and”וְיֹצְרָ֥הּ (וְ) ve. “and”

And in that day did the Lord Jehovah of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth;

וּלְמִסְפֵּ֔ד (וּ) u. “and”וּלְקָרְחָ֖ה (וּ) u. “and”וְלַחֲגֹ֥ר (וְ) ve. “and”

and behold joy and rejoicing, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: -- Let us eat and drink, for to-morrow we die.

וְהִנֵּ֣ה׀ (וְ) ve. “and”וְשִׂמְחָ֗ה (וְ) ve. “and”וְשָׁחֹ֣ט (וְ) ve. “and”וְשָׁת֣וֹת (וְ) ve. “and”וְשָׁת֔וֹ (וְ) ve. “and”

What hast thou here? and whom hast thou here, that thou hast hewn thee out a sepulchre here, [ergänzt: as] he that heweth out his sepulchre on high, cutting out in the rock a habitation for himself?

וּמִ֣י (וּ) u. “and”

Behold, Jehovah will hurl thee with the force of a mighty man, and will cover thee entirely.

וְעֹטְךָ֖ (וְ) ve. “and”

Rolling thee up completely, he will roll thee as a ball into a wide country: there shalt thou die, and there shall be the chariots of thy glory, O shame of thy lord's house!

וְשָׁ֙מָּה֙ (וְ) ve. “and”

And I will drive thee from thine office, and from thy station will I pull thee down.

וּמִמַּעֲמָֽדְךָ֖ (וּ) u. “and”

and I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand; and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.

וְאַבְנֵֽטְךָ֙ (וְ) ve. “and”וּמֶֽמְשֶׁלְתְּךָ֖ (וּ) u. “and”וּלְבֵ֥ית (וּ) u. “and”
