Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?

וּ֝מִבְּשָׂרִ֗י (וּ֝) u. “and”

Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!

וְיִכָּתְב֣וּן (וְ) ve. “and”וְיֻחָֽקוּ׃ (וְ) ve. “so”

That they were graven with an iron pen in lead, in the rock for ever!

וְעֹפָ֑רֶת (וְ) ve. “and”

For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he will stand at the latter day upon the earth:

וַאֲנִ֣י (וַ) va. “and”וְ֝אַחֲר֗וֹן (וְ֝) ve. “and”

And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

וְאַחַ֣ר (וְ) ve. “and”וּ֝מִבְּשָׂרִ֗י (וּ֝) u. “and”

Whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

וְעֵינַ֣י (וְ) ve. “and”וְלֹא־ (וְ) ve. “and”

But ye would say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?

וְשֹׁ֥רֶשׁ (וְ) ve. “and”

Therefore do my thoughts cause me to answer, and for this I make haste.

וּ֝בַעֲב֗וּר (וּ֝) u. “and”

I have heard the check of my reproach, and the spirit of my understanding causeth me to answer.

וְ֝ר֗וּחַ (וְ֝) ve. “and”

That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?

וְשִׂמְחַ֖ת (וְ) ve. “and”

Though his excellence shall mount up to the heavens, and his head reach to the clouds;

וְ֝רֹאשׁ֗וֹ (וְ֝) ve. “and”

He shall fly away as a dream, and will not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.

וְלֹ֣א (וְ) ve. “and”וְ֝יֻדַּ֗ד (וְ֝) ve. “and”

The eye also which saw him shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.

וְלֹ֣א (וְ) ve. “and”וְלֹא־ (וְ) ve. “and”

His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods.

וְ֝יָדָ֗יו (וְ֝) ve. “and”

His bones are full of the sin of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust.

וְ֝עִמּ֗וֹ (וְ֝) ve. “and”

Though he may spare it, and forsake it not; but keep it still within his mouth:

וְלֹ֣א (וְ) ve. “and”וְ֝יִמְנָעֶ֗נָּה (וְ֝) ve. “and”

He shall not see the river, the floods, the brooks of honey and buttermilk.

וְחֶמְאָֽה׃ (וְ) ve. “and”

That which he labored for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it: according to his substance shall the restitution be, and he shall not rejoice in it.

וְלֹ֣א (וְ) ve. “and”וְלֹ֣א (וְ) ve. “<and>”

Because he hath oppressed and hath forsaken the poor; because he hath violently taken away a house which he did not build.

וְלֹ֣א (וְ) ve. “and”

When he is about to fill his belly, God shall cast the fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain it upon him while he is eating.

וְיַמְטֵ֥ר (וְ) ve. “and”

It is drawn, and cometh out of the body; yes, the glittering sword cometh out of his gall: terrors are upon him.

וּ֭בָרָק (וּ֭) U. “and”

The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him.

וְ֝אֶ֗רֶץ (וְ֝) ve. “and”

This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed to him by God.

וְנַחֲלַ֖ת (וְ) ve. “and”

Hear diligently my speech, and let this be your consolations.

וּתְהִי־ (וּ) u. “and”

Suffer me that I may speak; and after I have spoken, mock on.

וְאָנֹכִ֣י (וְ) ve. “and”וְאַחַ֖ר (וְ) ve. “and”
