The singers: the children of Asaph, a hundred and forty eight.

וּשְׁמֹנָֽה׃ (וּ) u. “and”

The porters: the children of Shallum, the children of Ater, the children of Talmon, the children of Akkub, the children of Hatita, the children of Shobai, a hundred and thirty eight.

וּשְׁמֹנָֽה׃ (וּ) u. “and”

All the Nethinims, and the children of Solomon's servants, were three hundred and ninety two.

וּבְנֵ֖י (וּ) u. “and”וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃ (וּ) u. “and”

And these were they who went up also from Tel-mela, Tel-haresha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer: but they could not show their fathers house, nor their seed, whether they were of Israel.

וְאֵ֗לֶּה (וְ) ve. “and”וְאִמֵּ֑ר (וְ) ve. “and”וְלֹ֣א (וְ) ve. “and”וְזַרְעָ֔ם (וְ) ve. “and”

The children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred and forty two.

וְאַרְבָּעִ֥ים (וְ) ve. “and”וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃ (וּ) u. “and”

And of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai, who took one of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite for a wife, and was called after their name.

וּמִן־ (וּ) u. “and”

These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but it was not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.

וְלֹ֣א (וְ) ve. “and”

And the Tirshatha said to them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there should stand up a priest with Urim and Thummim.

וְתוּמִּֽים׃ (וְ) ve. “and”

The whole congregation together was forty two thousand three hundred and sixty.

וְשִׁשִּֽׁים׃ (וְ) ve. “and”

Besides their man-servants and their maid-servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred and thirty seven: and they had two hundred and forty five singing-men and singing-women.

וְאַמְהֹֽתֵיהֶם֙ (וְ) ve. “and”וְשִׁבְעָ֑ה (וְ) ve. “and”וְלָהֶ֗ם (וְ) ve. “and”וּמְשֹׁ֣רֲר֔וֹת (וּ) u. “and”

Their horses, seven hundred and thirty six: their mules, two hundred and forty five:

וְשִׁשָּׁה (וְ) ve. “and”וְאַרְבָּעִ֥ים (וְ) ve. “and”וַחֲמִשָּֽׁה׃ (וַ) va. “and”

Their camels, four hundred and thirty five: six thousand seven hundred and twenty asses.

וַחֲמִשָּׁ֑ה (וַ) va. “and”וְעֶשְׂרִֽים׃ (וְ) ve. “and”

And some of the chief of the fathers gave to the work. The Tirshatha gave to the treasure a thousand drams of gold, fifty basins, five hundred and thirty priests' garments.

וּמִקְצָת֙ (וּ) u. “and”וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ (וַ) va. “and”

And some of the chief of the fathers gave to the treasure of the work, twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand and two hundred pounds of silver.

וּמֵֽרָאשֵׁ֣י (וּ) u. “and”וְכֶ֕סֶף (וְ) ve. “and”וּמָאתָֽיִם׃ (וּ) u. “and”

And that which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand pounds of silver, and sixty seven priests' garments.

וַאֲשֶׁ֣ר (וַ) va. “and”וְכֶ֖סֶף (וְ) ve. “and”וְכָתְנֹ֥ת (וְ) ve. “and”וְשִׁבְעָֽה׃ (וְ) ve. “and”

So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.

וְהַלְוִיִּ֡ם (וְ) ve. “and”וְהַשּׁוֹעֲרִים֩ (וְ) ve. “and”וְהַמְשֹׁרְרִ֨ים (וְ) ve. “and”וּמִן־ (וּ) u. “and”וְהַנְּתִינִ֛ים (וְ) ve. “and”וְכָל־ (וְ) ve. “and”וּבְנֵ֥י (וּ) u. “and”

And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.

וְעַד־ (וְ) ve. “and”וְכֹ֖ל (וְ) ve. “and”

And he read therein before the street that was before the water-gate from the morning until mid-day, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the law.

וְהַנָּשִׁ֖ים (וְ) ve. “and”וְהַמְּבִינִ֑ים (וְ) ve. “and”וְאָזְנֵ֥י (וְ) ve. “and”

And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam.

וְשֶׁ֡מַע (וְ) ve. “and”וַ֠עֲנָיָה (וַ֠) Va. “and”וְאוּרִיָּ֧ה (וְ) ve. “and”וְחִלְקִיָּ֛ה (וְ) ve. “and”וּמַעֲשֵׂיָ֖ה (וּ) u. “and”וּמִשְּׂמֹאל֗וֹ (וּ) u. “and”וּמִֽישָׁאֵ֧ל (וּ) u. “and”וּמַלְכִּיָּ֛ה (וּ) u. “and”וְחָשֻׁ֥ם (וְ) ve. “and”וְחַשְׁבַּדָּ֖נָה (וְ) ve. “and”

And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people;) and when he opened it, all the people stood up:

וּכְפִתְח֖וֹ (וּ) u. “and”

Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people stood in their place.

וְיֵשׁ֡וּעַ (וְ) ve. “and”וּבָנִ֡י (וּ) u. “and”וְשֵׁרֵ֥בְיָ֣ה׀ (וְ) ve. “and”וְהַלְוִיִּ֔ם (וְ) ve. “and”וְהָעָ֖ם (וְ) ve. “and”

So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.

וְשׂ֣וֹם (וְ) ve. “and”

And Nehemiah, who is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest, the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said to all the people, This day is holy to the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.

וְעֶזְרָ֣א (וְ) ve. “and”וְהַלְוִיִּם֩ (וְ) ve. “and”וְאַל־ (וְ) ve. “and”

Then he said to them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions to them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy to our Lord: neither be ye sad; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

וּשְׁת֣וּ (וּ) u. “and”וְשִׁלְח֤וּ (וְ) ve. “and”וְאַל־ (וְ) ve. “and”

So the Levites stilled all the people, saying, Hold your peace, for the day is holy; neither be ye grieved.
