and for all burnt-offerings offered up to Jehovah on the sabbaths, on the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the ordinance concerning them, continually, before Jehovah;

וּלְכֹ֨ל (וּ) u. “and”וְלַמֹּעֲדִ֑ים (וְ) ve. “and”

and they kept the charge of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of Jehovah.

וְאֵת֙ (וְ) ve. “and”וּמִשְׁמֶ֕רֶת (וּ) u. “and”

And the divisions of the sons of Aaron: the sons of Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

וְלִבְנֵ֥י (וְ) ve. “and”וַאֲבִיה֔וּא (וַ) va. “and”וְאִיתָמָֽר׃ (וְ) ve. “and”

And Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and had no children; and Eleazar and Ithamar exercised the priesthood.

וַאֲבִיהוּא֙ (וַ) va. “and”וּבָנִ֖ים (וּ) u. “and”וְאִיתָמָֽר׃ (וְ) ve. “and”

And David distributed them, both Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, according to their office in their service.

וְצָדוֹק֙ (וְ) ve. “and”וַאֲחִימֶ֖לֶךְ (וַ) va. “and”

And there were more head-men found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar, and [ergänzt: thus] were they divided: of the sons of Eleazar there were sixteen heads of fathers' houses, and eight of the sons of Ithamar according to their fathers' houses.

וְלִבְנֵ֧י (וְ) ve. “and”

And they were divided by lot, one with another; for the princes of the sanctuary and the princes of God were of the sons of Eleazar and of the sons of Ithamar.

וְשָׂרֵ֣י (וְ) ve. “and”וּבִבְנֵ֥י (וּ) u. “and”

And Shemaiah the son of Nethaneel the scribe, [ergänzt: one] of the Levites, inscribed them before the king, and the princes, and Zadok the priest, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and the chief fathers of the priests and Levites: one father's house was drawn for Eleazar, and one drawn for Ithamar.

וְהַשָּׂרִים֙ (וְ) ve. “and”וְצָד֣וֹק (וְ) ve. “and”וַאֲחִימֶ֙לֶךְ֙ (וַ) va. “and”וְרָאשֵׁי֙ (וְ) ve. “and”וְלַלְוִיִּ֑ם (וְ) ve. “and”וְאָחֻ֥ז׀ (וְ) ve. “and”

the twenty-first for Jachin, the twenty-second for Gamul,

וְעֶשְׂרִ֔ים (וְ) ve. “and”וְעֶשְׂרִֽים׃ (וְ) ve. “and”

the twenty-third for Delaiah, the twenty-fourth for Maaziah.

וְעֶשְׂרִ֔ים (וְ) ve. “and”וְעֶשְׂרִֽים׃ (וְ) ve. “and”

And as for the rest of the sons of Levi: of the sons of Amram, Shubael; of the sons of Shubael, Jehdeiah.

וְלִבְנֵ֥י (וְ) ve. “and”

-- And the sons [ergänzt: of Hebron]: Jerijah [ergänzt: the head], Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, Jekameam the fourth.

וּבְנָ֖י (וּ) u. “and”

The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi; the sons of Jaaziah, his son.

וּמוּשִׁ֔י (וּ) u. “and”

The sons of Merari by Jaaziah his son: Shoham, and Zaccur, and Ibri.

וְשֹׁ֥הַם (וְ) ve. “and”וְזַכּ֖וּר (וְ) ve. “and”וְעִבְרִֽי׃ (וְ) ve. “and”

Of Mahli: Eleazar, who had no sons.

וְלֹא־ (וְ) ve. “and”

And the sons of Mushi: Mahli, and Eder, and Jerimoth. These were the sons of the Levites according to their fathers' houses.

וּבְנֵ֣י (וּ) u. “and”וְעֵ֖דֶר (וְ) ve. “and”וִירִימ֑וֹת (וִ) vi. “and”

These likewise cast lots just as their brethren the sons of Aaron before David the king, and Zadok, and Ahimelech, and the chief fathers of the priests and Levites, -- the chief fathers just as the youngest of their brethren.

וְצָד֣וֹק (וְ) ve. “and”וַאֲחִימֶ֔לֶךְ (וַ) va. “and”וְרָאשֵׁי֙ (וְ) ve. “and”וְלַלְוִיִּ֑ם (וְ) ve. “and”

And David and the captains of the host separated for the service those of the sons of Asaph and of Heman and of Jeduthun who were to prophesy with harps and lutes and cymbals; and the number of the men employed according to their service was:

וְשָׂרֵ֨י (וְ) ve. “and”וְהֵימָ֣ן (וְ) ve. “and”וִֽידוּת֔וּן (וִֽ) vi. “and”וּבִמְצִלְתָּ֑יִם (וּ) u. “and”

of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asharelah, the sons of Asaph under the direction of Asaph, who prophesied at the direction of the king.

וְיוֹסֵ֛ף (וְ) ve. “and”וּנְתַנְיָ֥ה (וּ) u. “and”וַאֲשַׂרְאֵ֖לָה (וַ) va. “and”

Of Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Isaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, [ergänzt: and Shimei] six, under the direction of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with the harp, to give thanks and to praise Jehovah.

וּצְרִ֡י (וּ) u. “and”וִֽ֠ישַׁעְיָהוּ (וִֽ֠) Vi. “and”וּמַתִּתְיָ֜הוּ (וּ) u. “and”וְהַלֵּ֖ל (וְ) ve. “and”

Of Heman, the sons of Heman: Bukkijah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamti-ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, Mahazioth:

וִֽירִימ֜וֹת (וִֽ) vi. “and”וְרֹמַ֣מְתִּי (וְ) ve. “and”

all these were sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to exalt his power; and God had given to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

וּבָנ֥וֹת (וּ) u. “and”

All these were under the direction of their fathers Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman, for song in the house of Jehovah, with cymbals, lutes and harps, for the service of the house of God, under the direction of the king.

וְכִנֹּר֔וֹת (וְ) ve. “and”וִידוּת֖וּן (וִ) vi. “and”וְהֵימָֽן׃ (וְ) ve. “and”

And the number of them, with their brethren that were instructed in the songs of Jehovah, all of them skilful, was two hundred and eighty-eight.

וּשְׁמוֹנָֽה׃ (וּ) u. “and”

And the first lot came forth for Asaph to Joseph; to Gedaliah the second: he and his brethren and his sons were twelve.

וְאֶחָיו (וְ) ve. “and”וּבָנָיו (וּ) u. “and”וְאֶחָ֥יו (וְ) ve. “and”וּבָנָ֖יו (וּ) u. “and”
