And I took unto me to witness, sure witnesses, Urijah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.

וְאָעִ֣ידָה (אָעִ֣ידָה) 'a.'I.dah “I will call as witness”

To whom shall I speak and testify, that they may hear? Behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of Jehovah is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.

וְאָעִ֙ידָה֙ (אָעִ֙ידָה֙) 'a.'I.dah “will I warn?”

For I earnestly protested unto your fathers, in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Hearken unto my voice.

הָעֵ֨ד ha.'Ed “certainly <to warn>”הַעִדֹ֜תִי ha.'i.Do.ti “I warned”וְהָעֵ֖ד (הָעֵ֖ד) ha.'Ed “warning”

And I subscribed the writing, and sealed it, and took witnesses, and weighed the money in the balances.

וָאָעֵ֖ד (אָעֵ֖ד) 'a.'Ed “I caused to witness [it]”

And thou, Lord Jehovah, thou hast said unto me, Buy for thyself the field for money, and take witnesses; -- and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.

וְהָעֵ֣ד (הָעֵ֣ד) ha.'Ed “cause to witness [it]”

[ergänzt: Men] shall buy fields for money, and subscribe the writings, and seal them, and take witnesses, in the land of Benjamin, and in the environs of Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the hill-country, and in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the south: for I will turn their captivity, saith Jehovah.

וְהָעֵ֣ד (הָעֵ֣ד) ha.'Ed “cause to witness [it]”

Jehovah hath said concerning you, the remnant of Judah, Go ye not into Egypt. Know certainly that I have admonished you this day.

הַעִידֹ֥תִי ha.'i.Do.ti “I have warned”

What shall I take to witness for thee? what shall I liken unto thee, daughter of Jerusalem? What shall I equal to thee, that I may comfort thee, virgin daughter of Zion? For thy ruin is great as the sea: who will heal thee?

אֲעִידֵ֞ךְ (אֲעִידֵ֞) 'a.'i.De “will I testify for”

Hear ye, and testify in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord Jehovah, the God of hosts,

וְהָעִ֖ידוּ (הָעִ֖ידוּ) ha.'I.du “warn”

And the Angel of Jehovah protested unto Joshua, saying,

וַיָּ֙עַד֙ (יָּ֙עַד֙) i.Ya.'ad “he admonished”

Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because Jehovah hath been a witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt unfaithfully: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.

הֵעִ֨יד he.'Id “he has testified”
