And he will be for a sanctuary; and for a stone of stumbling, and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

וּלְמוֹקֵ֔שׁ (מוֹקֵ֔שׁ) mo.Kesh “a snare”

Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth when no gin [ergänzt: is laid] for him? Will the snare spring up from the earth when nothing at all hath been taken?
