H0034–אֶבְיוֹן–ev.yon

Behold, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: pride, fullness of bread, and prosperous ease was in her and in her daughters; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

וְאֶבְי֖וֹן (אֶבְי֖וֹן) 'ev.Yon “[the] needy”

has wronged the poor and needy, has taken by robbery, has not restored the pledge, and has lifted up his eyes to the idols, has committed abomination,

וְאֶבְיוֹן֙ (אֶבְיוֹן֙) 'ev.yOn “[the] needy”

The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery; yes, they have vexed the poor and needy, and have oppressed the foreigner wrongfully.

וְאֶבְיוֹן֙ (אֶבְיוֹן֙) 'ev.yOn “[the] needy”

Thus says Yahweh: "For three transgressions of Israel, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; Because they have sold the righteous for silver, And the needy for a pair of shoes;

וְאֶבְי֖וֹן (אֶבְי֖וֹן) 'ev.Yon “[the] needy”

Listen to this word, you cows of Bashan, who are on the mountain of Samaria, who oppress the poor, who crush the needy, who tell their lords, "Bring, and let us drink."

אֶבְיוֹנִ֑ים 'ev.yo.Nim “needy [people]”

For I know how many your offenses, And how great are your sins-- You who afflict the just, Who take a bribe, And who turn aside the needy in the courts.

וְאֶבְיוֹנִ֖ים (אֶבְיוֹנִ֖ים) 'ev.yo.Nim “needy [people]”

Hear this, you who desire to swallow up the needy, And cause the poor of the land to fail,

אֶבְי֑וֹן 'ev.Yon “[the] needy”

That we may buy the poor for silver, And the needy for a pair of shoes, And sell the sweepings with the wheat?'"
