For thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Like as I thought to do you evil when your fathers provoked me to wrath, saith Jehovah of hosts, and I repented not;

אֲבֹֽתֵיכֶם֙ (אֲבֹֽתֵי) 'a.vo.tei. “ancestors”

And it shall come to pass, if any shall yet prophesy, that his father and his mother that begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of Jehovah; and his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth.

אָבִ֨יו (אָבִ֨י) 'a.Vi “father”אָבִ֧יהוּ (אָבִ֧י) 'a.Vi. “father”

A son honoureth [ergänzt: his] father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith Jehovah of hosts unto you, priests, that despise my name. But ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?

אָ֖ב 'av “a father”אָ֣ב 'av “[am] a father”

Have we not all one father? Hath not one God created us? Why do we deal unfaithfully every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?

Since the days of your fathers have ye departed from my statutes, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith Jehovah of hosts. But ye say, Wherein shall we return?

אֲבֹתֵיכֶ֜ם (אֲבֹתֵי) 'a.vo.tei. “ancestors”

And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
