G3982–πείθω–peithō

All these died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them from afar off and embraced [ergänzt: them], and confessed that they were strangers and sojourners on the earth.

πεισθέντες peisthentes “having been persuaded”

Obey your leaders, and be submissive; for *they* watch over your souls as those that shall give account; that they may do this with joy, and not groaning, for this [ergänzt: would be] unprofitable for you.

Πείθεσθε Peithesthe “do obey”

Pray for us: for we persuade ourselves that we have a good conscience, in all things desirous to walk rightly.

πειθόμεθα peithometha “we are assured”

Behold, we put the bits in the mouths of the horses, that they may obey us, and we turn round their whole bodies.

πείθεσθαι peithesthai “to obey”

And hereby we shall know that we are of the truth, and shall persuade our hearts before him --

πείσομεν peisomen “we will assure”
