See, O Jehovah, and behold to whom thou hast done thus! Shall the women eat their fruit, the children that are dandled in the hands? Shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?

וְֽהַבִּ֔יטָה (ה) h “!”

O Jehovah, thou hast seen my wrong; judge thou my cause.

שָׁפְטָ֖ה (ה) h “!”

Behold thou their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their song.

הַבִּ֔יטָה (ה) h “!”

Remember, O Jehovah, what is come upon us: Behold, and see our reproach.

הַבִּ֖יטָה (ה) h “!”

And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.

וָאֹ֣כְלָ֔ה (ה) h “!”

And it came to pass, while they were smiting, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Ah Lord Jehovah! wilt thou destroy all the residue of Israel in thy pouring out of thy wrath upon Jerusalem?

וָאֶפְּלָ֨ה (ה) h “!”

And I decked thee with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck.

וָאֶתְּנָ֤ה (ה) h “!”

And as soon as she saw them she doted upon them, and sent messengers unto them into Chaldea.

וַתַּעְגְּבָ֥ה (ה) h “!”

And she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.

וַֽתַּעְגְּבָ֔ה (ה) h “!”

Whom dost thou pass in beauty? go down, and be thou laid with the uncircumcised.

רְדָ֥ה (ה) h “!”וְהָשְׁכְּבָ֖ה (ה) h “!”

Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said unto that certain one who spake, How long shall be the vision [supplied: concerning] the continual [supplied: burnt-offering], and the transgression that maketh desolate, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?

וָאֶשְׁמְעָ֥ה (ה) h “!”

And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, that I sought to understand it; and, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.

וָאֲבַקְשָׁ֣ה (ה) h “!”

So he came near where I stood; and when he came, I was affrighted, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man; for the vision belongeth to the time of the end.

וָאֶפְּלָ֖ה (ה) h “!”

And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting and sackcloth and ashes.

וָאֶתְּנָ֣ה (ה) h “!”

And I prayed unto Jehovah my God, and made confession, and said, Oh, Lord, the great and dreadful God, who keepeth covenant and lovingkindness with them that love him and keep his commandments,

וָֽאֶתְפַּֽלְלָ֛ה (ה) h “!”וָאֹֽמְרָ֗ה (ה) h “!”

O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God, because thy city and thy people are called by thy name.

שְׁמָ֙עָה֙ (ה֙) h “!”סְלָ֔חָה (ה) h “!”הַֽקֲשִׁ֥יבָה (ה) h “!”

And, behold, one in the likeness of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by reason of the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I retain no strength.

וָאֲדַבְּרָה֙ (ה֙) h “!”וָאֹֽמְרָה֙ (ה֙) h “!”

And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my lord, what shall be the issue of these things?

וָאֹ֣מְרָ֔ה (ה) h “!”

Where now is thy king, that he may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges, of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes?

תְּנָה־ (ה) h- “!”

O Israel, return unto Jehovah thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.

שׁ֚וּבָה (ה) h “!”

Let the priests, the ministers of Jehovah, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O Jehovah, and give not thy heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the peoples, Where is their God?

ח֧וּסָה (ה) h “!”

Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, that oppress the poor, that crush the needy, that say unto their lords, Bring, and let us drink.

הָבִ֥יאָה (ה) h “!”

Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, for whose cause this evil is upon us; what is thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what is thy country? and of what people art thou?

הַגִּידָה־ (ה) h- “!”

Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise! Shall this teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.

הָקִ֔יצָה (ה) h “!”

And Jehovah said unto me, Cast it unto the potter, the goodly price that I was prized at by them. And I took the thirty [supplied: pieces] of silver, and cast them unto the potter, in the house of Jehovah.

וָֽאֶקְחָה֙ (ה֙) h “!”
