And thou shalt levy a tribute for Jehovah of the men of war who went out to the army, one soul of five hundred of the persons, and of the oxen, and of the asses, and of the small cattle.

Of their half shall ye take it, and give it unto Eleazar the priest, for a heave-offering of Jehovah.

לְאֶלְעָזָ֥ר (לְ) le. “to”

And of the children of Israel's half, thou shalt take one portion of fifty, of the persons, of the oxen, of the asses, and of the small cattle, of every [supplied: kind of] beasts, and thou shalt give them unto the Levites, who keep the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah.

לַלְוִיִּ֔ם (לַ) la “to the”

and the tribute for Jehovah of the sheep was six hundred and seventy-five;

לַֽיהוָ֖ה (לַֽ) la. “for”

and the oxen were thirty-six thousand, and the tribute thereof for Jehovah, seventy-two;

לַיהוָ֖ה (לַ) la. “for”

and the asses were thirty thousand five hundred, and the tribute thereof for Jehovah, sixty-one;

לַֽיהוָ֖ה (לַֽ) la. “for”

and the human persons were sixteen thousand, of whom the tribute for Jehovah was thirty-two persons.

And Moses gave the tribute of Jehovah's heave-offering to Eleazar the priest, as Jehovah had commanded Moses.

לְאֶלְעָזָ֖ר (לְ) le. “to”

... of the children of Israel's half, Moses took one portion of fifty, of man and of cattle, and gave them to the Levites who kept the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah; as Jehovah had commanded Moses.

לַלְוִיִּ֗ם (לַ) la “to the”

And the officers who were over the thousands of the host, the captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, came near to Moses,

לְאַלְפֵ֣י (לְ) le. “[were] of”

So we present the offering of Jehovah, that which each one hath found, jewels of gold, chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings, and necklaces, to make atonement for our souls before Jehovah.

לְכַפֵּ֥ר (לְ) le. “to”לִפְנֵ֥י (לִ) li “<to>”

And all the gold of the heave-offering that they offered to Jehovah was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels, from the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds.

(The men of war had taken spoil each one for himself.)

And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tent of meeting, as a memorial for the children of Israel before Jehovah.

לִבְנֵֽי־ (לִ) li “for”לִפְנֵ֥י (לִ) li “<to>”

And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had much cattle, a very great multitude; and they saw the land of Jaazer, and the land of Gilead, and behold, the place was a place for cattle.

And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spoke to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the princes of the assembly, saying,

לֵאמֹֽר׃ (לֵ) le. “<to>”

the country that Jehovah smote before the assembly of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle;

לִפְנֵי֙ (לִ) li “<to>”וְלַֽעֲבָדֶ֖יךָ (לַֽ) la. “[belongs] to”

and they said, If we have found favour in thine eyes, let this land be given to thy servants for a possession: bring us not over the Jordan.

לַעֲבָדֶ֖יךָ (לַ) la. “to”לַאֲחֻזָּ֑ה (לַ) la. “to”

And Moses said to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall *ye* abide here?

לִבְנֵי־ (לִ) li “to”וְלִבְנֵ֣י (לִ) li “to”לַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה (לַ) la. “to <the>”

And why do ye discourage the children of Israel from going over into the land that Jehovah has given them?

וְלָ֣מָּה (לָ֣) La. “<to>”לָהֶ֖ם (לָ) la. “to <the>”

Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land:

לִרְא֥וֹת (לִ) li “to”

they went up to the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, and discouraged the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land that Jehovah had given them.

לְבִלְתִּי־ (לְ) le. “to”לָהֶ֖ם (לָ) la. “to <the>”

And Jehovah's anger was kindled the same time, and he swore, saying,

לֵאמֹֽר׃ (לֵ) le. “<to>”

If the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land that I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob! for they have not wholly followed me;

לְאַבְרָהָ֥ם (לְ) le. “to”לְיִצְחָ֖ק (לְ) le. “to”וּֽלְיַעֲקֹ֑ב (לְ) le. “to”

And behold, ye are risen up in your fathers' stead, a progeny of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of Jehovah toward Israel.
