And the men pursued after them the way to the Jordan, to the fords; and when they who pursued after them had gone out, they closed the gate.

וְהָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים (וְ) ve. “and”וְהַשַּׁ֣עַר (וְ) ve. “and”

And before they had lain down, she went up to them upon the roof;

וְהֵ֖מָּה (וְ) ve. “and”וְהִ֛יא (וְ) ve. “and”

and said to the men, I know that Jehovah has given you the land, and that the dread of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.

וְכִֽי־ (וְ) ve. “and”וְכִ֥י (וְ) ve. “and”

For we have heard that Jehovah dried up the waters of the Red sea before you when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did to the two kings of the Amorites that were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and to Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

וַאֲשֶׁ֣ר (וַ) va. “and”וּלְע֔וֹג (וּ) u. “and”

We heard [supplied: of it], and our heart melted, and there remained no more spirit in any man because of you; for Jehovah your God, he is God in the heavens above and on the earth beneath.

וְלֹא־ (וְ) ve. “and”וְעַל־ (וְ) ve. “and”

And now, I pray you, swear to me by Jehovah, since I have dealt kindly with you, that ye will also deal kindly with my father's house, and give me a certain sign,

וְעַתָּ֗ה (וְ) ve. “and”

that ye will let my father live, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that belong to them, and deliver our souls from death.

וְאֶת־ (וְ) ve. “and”וְאֶת־ (וְ) ve. “and”וְאֶת־ (וְ) ve. “and”וְאֵ֖ת (וְ) ve. “and”

And the men said to her, Our lives shall pay for yours, if ye do not make this our business known; and it shall be when Jehovah shall give us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.

וֶאֱמֶֽת׃ (וֶ) ve. “and”

And she let them down by a cord through the window; for her house was upon the city-wall, and she dwelt upon the wall.

וּבַֽחוֹמָ֖ה (וּ) u. “and”

And she said to them, Go to the mountain, that the pursuers may not meet with you; and hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers have returned; and afterwards go your way.

וְאַחַ֖ר (וְ) ve. “and”

Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind in the window this line of scarlet thread by which thou hast let us down; and thou shalt gather to thee in the house thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father's household;

וְאֶת־ (וְ) ve. “and”וְאֶת־ (וְ) ve. “and”וְאֶת־ (וְ) ve. “and”וְאֵת֙ (וְ) ve. “and”

and it shall be, that whoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, -- his blood shall be upon his head, and we shall be innocent; but every one who shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be upon our head, if any hand be upon him.

וַאֲנַ֣חְנוּ (וַ) va. “and”וְ֠כֹל (וְ֠) Ve. “and”

And if thou make known this our business, we will be quit of thine oath which thou hast made us swear.

וְאִם־ (וְ) ve. “and”

And they went, and came to the mountain, and remained there three days, until the pursuers had returned; and the pursuers sought them all the way, and found them not.

וְלֹ֥א (וְ) ve. “and”

And they said to Joshua, Of a surety Jehovah has given the whole land into our hands, and even all the inhabitants of the land faint because of us.

וְגַם־ (וְ) ve. “and”

And Joshua rose early in the morning; and they removed from Shittim, and came to the Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over.

וְכָל־ (וְ) ve. “and”

and they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of Jehovah your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then remove from your place, and go after it;

וְהַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ (וְ) ve. “and”וְאַתֶּ֗ם (וְ) ve. “and”

yet there shall be a distance between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure. Ye shall not come near it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go; for ye have not passed this way heretofore.

וּבֵינָ֔יו (וּ) u. “and”

And Joshua spoke to the priests, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant, and go over before the people. And they took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people.

וְעִבְר֖וּ (וְ) ve. “and”

And thou shalt command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye come to the edge of the waters of the Jordan, stand still in the Jordan.

וְאַתָּ֗ה (וְ) ve. “and”

And Joshua said to the children of Israel, Come hither, and hear the words of Jehovah your God.

וְשִׁמְע֕וּ (וְ) ve. “and”

And Joshua said, Hereby shall ye know that the living God is in your midst, and [supplied: that] he will without fail dispossess from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites.

וְהוֹרֵ֣שׁ (וְ) ve. “and”וְאֶת־ (וְ) ve. “and”וְאֶת־ (וְ) ve. “and”וְאֶת־ (וְ) ve. “and”וְאֶת־ (וְ) ve. “and”וְהָאֱמֹרִ֖י (וְ) ve. “and”וְהַיְבוּסִֽי׃ (וְ) ve. “and”

And now take you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, one man for each tribe.

וְעַתָּ֗ה (וְ) ve. “and”

And it shall come to pass, when the soles of the feet of the priests who bear the ark of Jehovah, the Lord of all the earth, rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan, the waters flowing down from above, shall be cut off, and shall stand up in a heap.

וְיַעַמְד֖וּ (וְ) ve. “so”

And it came to pass when the people removed from their tents, to pass over the Jordan, that the priests bearing the ark of the covenant were before the people;

וְהַכֹּהֲנִ֗ים (וְ) ve. “and”
