And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah that are in Babylon, saying, Jehovah make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;

וְלֻקַּ֤ח (וְ) ve. “and”

because they have committed infamy in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbours' wives, and have spoken words of falsehood in my name, which I had not commanded them: and I [supplied: am] he that knoweth, and [supplied: am] witness, saith Jehovah.

וַיְנַֽאֲפוּ֙ (וַ) va “and”וַיְדַבְּר֨וּ (וַ) va “and”

Jehovah hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that there should be officers [supplied: in] the house of Jehovah, over every madman and self-made prophet, that thou shouldest put him in the stocks and in the shackles.

וְנָתַתָּ֥ה (וְ) ve. “and”

-- And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of the prophet Jeremiah.

וַיִּקְרָ֛א (וַ) va “and”

And the word of Jehovah came unto Jeremiah, saying,

וַֽיְהִי֙ (וַֽ) va “and”

Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith Jehovah concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he hath caused you to trust in falsehood;

וַיַּבְטַ֥ח (וַ) va “and”

For behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, when I will turn the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith Jehovah; and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.

וְ֠שַׁבְתִּי (וְ֠) Ve. “and”וַהֲשִׁבֹתִ֗ים (וַ) va. “and”וִֽירֵשֽׁוּהָ׃ (וִֽ) Vi. “and”

Ask ye now, and see, whether a male doth travail with child? Wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail; and all faces are turned into paleness?

וְנֶהֶפְכ֥וּ (וְ) ve. “and”

And it shall come to pass in that day, saith Jehovah of hosts, I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more reduce him to servitude.

וְהָיָה֩ (וְ) ve. “and”

But they shall serve Jehovah their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.

וְעָ֣בְד֔וּ (וְ) ve. “and”

And thou, my servant Jacob, fear not, saith Jehovah; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for behold, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and at ease, and none shall make [supplied: him] afraid.

וְשָׁ֧ב (וְ) ve. “and”וְשָׁקַ֥ט (וְ) ve. “and”וְשַׁאֲנַ֖ן (וְ) ve. “and”

For I am with thee, saith Jehovah, to save thee: for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have scattered thee; yet of thee will I not make a full end, but I will correct thee with judgment, and will not hold thee altogether guiltless.

וְיִסַּרְתִּ֙יךָ֙ (וְ) ve. “and”

Therefore all that devour thee shall be devoured, and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil thee shall be for a spoil; and all they that prey upon thee will I give to be a prey.

וְהָי֤וּ (וְ) ve. “and”

Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will turn the captivity of Jacob's tents, and have mercy on his habitations; and the city shall be built upon her own heap; and the palace shall be inhabited after the manner thereof.

וְנִבְנְתָ֥ה (וְ) ve. “and”

And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving, and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be diminished; and I will honour them, and they shall not be small.

וְיָצָ֥א (וְ) ve. “and”וְהִרְבִּתִים֙ (וְ) ve. “and”וְהִכְבַּדְתִּ֖ים (וְ) ve. “and”

And their sons shall be as aforetime; and their assembly shall be established before me; and I will punish all that oppress them.

וְהָי֤וּ (וְ) ve. “and”וּפָ֣קַדְתִּ֔י (וּ) u. “and”

And their prince shall be of themselves, and their ruler shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to approach, and he shall draw near unto me. For who is this that engageth his heart to draw near unto me? saith Jehovah.

וְהָיָ֨ה (וְ) ve. “and”וְהִקְרַבְתִּ֖יו (וְ) ve. “and”וְנִגַּ֣שׁ (וְ) ve. “and”

And ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

וִהְיִ֥יתֶם (וִ) vi “and”

I will build thee again, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel! Thou shalt again be adorned with thy tambours, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.

וְֽנִבְנֵ֔ית (וְֽ) ve. “and”וְיָצָ֖את (וְ) ve. “and”

Thou shalt again plant vineyards upon the mountains of Samaria; the planters shall plant, and shall eat the fruit.

וְחִלֵּֽלוּ׃ (וְ) ve. “and”

Behold, I bring them from the north country, and gather them from the uttermost parts of the earth; [supplied: and] among them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great assemblage shall they return hither.

וְקִבַּצְתִּים֮ (וְ) ve. “and”

Hear the word of Jehovah, ye nations, and declare [supplied: it] to the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd his flock.

וּשְׁמָר֖וֹ (וּ) u. “and”

For Jehovah hath ransomed Jacob, and redeemed him from the hand of one stronger than he.

וּגְאָל֕וֹ (וּ) u. “and”

And they shall come and sing aloud upon the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of Jehovah, for corn, and for new wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd; and their soul shall be as a watered garden, and they shall not languish any more at all.

וּבָאוּ֮ (וּ) u. “and”וְרִנְּנ֣וּ (וְ) ve. “and”וְנָהֲר֞וּ (וְ) ve. “and”וְהָיְתָ֤ה (וְ) ve. “and”

Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, and the young men and old together; for I will turn their mourning into gladness, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice after their sorrow.

וְהָפַכְתִּ֨י (וְ) ve. “and”וְנִ֣חַמְתִּ֔ים (וְ) ve. “and”וְשִׂמַּחְתִּ֖ים (וְ) ve. “and”
