And I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons; and they shall cut down the choice of thy cedars, and cast [supplied: them] into the fire.

וְקִדַּשְׁתִּ֥י (וְ) ve. “and”וְכָֽרְתוּ֙ (וְ) ve. “and”וְהִפִּ֖ילוּ (וְ) ve. “and”

And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath Jehovah done thus unto this great city?

וְעָֽבְרוּ֙ (וְ) ve. “and”וְאָֽמְרוּ֙ (וְ) ve. “and”

And they shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of Jehovah their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them.

וְאָ֣מְר֔וּ (וְ) ve. “and”וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲו֛וּ (וַ) va “and”וַיַּעַבְדֽוּם׃ (וַ) va “and”

Weep not for the dead, neither bemoan him; [supplied: but] weep sore for him that goeth away, for he shall return no more, nor see his native country.

וְרָאָ֖ה (וְ) ve. “and”

that saith, I will build me a wide house, and spacious upper chambers; and he cutteth out for himself windows; and it is wainscoted with cedar, and painted with vermilion.

וְקָ֤רַֽע (וְ) ve. “and”

Shalt thou reign, because thou viest with the cedar? Did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice? Then it was well with him.

וְעָשָׂ֤ה (וְ) ve. “and”

The wind shall feed on all thy shepherds, and thy lovers shall go into captivity; surely, then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.

וְנִכְלַ֔מְתְּ (וְ) ve. “and”

and I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them before whom thou art afraid, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.

וּנְתַתִּ֗יךָ (וּ) u. “and”

And I will cast thee out, and thy mother that bare thee, into another country, where ye were not born; and there shall ye die.

וְהֵֽטַלְתִּ֣י (וְ) ve. “and”

Is this man Coniah a despised broken vase? a vessel wherein is no delight? Wherefore are they thrown out, he and his seed, and are cast into a land which they know not?

וְהֻ֨שְׁלְכ֔וּ (וְ) ve. “and”

Therefore thus saith Jehovah the God of Israel concerning the shepherds that feed my people: Ye have scattered my flock,and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith Jehovah.

וַתַּדִּח֔וּם (וַ) va. “and”

And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their pastures; and they shall be fruitful and shall multiply.

וַהֲשִׁבֹתִ֥י (וַ) va. “and”וּפָר֥וּ (וּ) u. “and”וְרָבֽוּ׃ (וְ) ve. “and”

And I will raise up shepherds over them, who shall feed them; and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall any be missing, saith Jehovah.

וַהֲקִמֹתִ֧י (וַ) va. “and”וְרָע֑וּם (וְ) ve. “and”

Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, when I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, who shall reign as king, and act wisely, and shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.

וַהֲקִמֹתִ֥י (וַ) va. “and”וּמָ֤לַךְ (וּ) u. “and”וְהִשְׂכִּ֔יל (וְ) ve. “and”וְעָשָׂ֛ה (וְ) ve. “and”

but, [supplied: As] Jehovah liveth, who brought up and who led back the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them. And they shall dwell in their own land.

וְיָשְׁב֖וּ (וְ) ve. “and”

For the land is full of adulterers; for because of execration the land mourneth. The pastures of the wilderness are dried up; for their course is evil, and their force is not right.

וַתְּהִ֤י (וַ) va. “and”

Therefore their way shall be unto them as slippery places in the darkness; they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them in the year of their visitation, saith Jehovah.

וְנָ֣פְלוּ (וְ) ve. “and”

And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria: they prophesied by Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.

וַיַּתְע֥וּ (וַ) va “and”

And in the prophets of Jerusalem have I seen a horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in falsehood, and strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that none doth return from his wickedness. They are all become unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.

וְחִזְּקוּ֙ (וְ) ve. “and”

Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts concerning the prophets: Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink water of gall; for from the prophets of Jerusalem is profaneness gone forth into all the land.

וְהִשְׁקִתִ֖ים (וְ) ve. “and”

For who hath stood in the council of Jehovah, so that he hath perceived and heard his word? who hath hearkened to his word and listened?

וַיִּשְׁמָֽע׃ (וַ) va “and”

Behold, I am against the prophets, saith Jehovah, that use their tongues, and say, He hath said.

וַֽיִּנְאֲמ֖וּ (וַֽ) va “and”

Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith Jehovah, and that tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies and by their boasting; and I have not sent them, nor commanded them; and they profit not this people at all, saith Jehovah.

וַֽיְסַפְּרוּם֙ (וַֽ) va “and”וַיַּתְע֣וּ (וַ) va “and”

And when this people, or a prophet, or a priest, ask thee, saying, What is the burden of Jehovah? thou shalt then say unto them, What burden? I will even cast you off, saith Jehovah.

וְאָמַרְתָּ֤ (וְ) ve. “and”וְנָטַשְׁתִּ֥י (וְ) ve. “and”

And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say, The burden of Jehovah, I will even punish that man and his house.
