And if they say, [supplied: As] Jehovah liveth! surely they swear falsely.

יִשָּׁבֵֽעוּ׃ yi.sha.Ve.'u “they are swearing oaths”

Wherefore should I pardon thee? Thy children have forsaken me, and swear by them that are not God. I have satiated them, and they have committed adultery, and they troop to the harlots' house.

וַיִּשָּׁבְע֖וּ (יִּשָּׁבְע֖וּ) i.yi.sha.ve.'U “they have sworn”

What? steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not ...

וְהִשָּׁבֵ֥עַ (הִשָּׁבֵ֥עַ) hi.sha.Ve.a' “will you swear?”

that I may perform the oath that I have sworn unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. And I answered and said, Amen, Jehovah!

נִשְׁבַּ֣עְתִּי nish.Ba'.ti “I swore”

And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, [supplied: As] Jehovah liveth -- even as they taught my people to swear by Baal -- they shall be built up in the midst of my people.

But if ye will not hear these words, I have sworn by myself, saith Jehovah, that this house shall become a waste.

נִשְׁבַּ֙עְתִּי֙ nish.Ba'.ti “I swear”

and didst give them this land, which thou hadst sworn unto their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey.

נִשְׁבַּ֥עְתָּ nish.Ba'.ta “you had sworn”

And king Zedekiah swore secretly unto Jeremiah, saying, [supplied: As] Jehovah liveth, that made us this soul, I will not put thee to death, neither will I give thee into the hand of these men that seek thy life.

וַיִּשָּׁבַ֞ע (יִּשָּׁבַ֞ע) i.yi.sha.Va' “he swore”

And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan swore unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.

Therefore hear ye the word of Jehovah, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt: Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith Jehovah, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, [supplied: As] the Lord Jehovah liveth.

For I have sworn by myself, saith Jehovah, that Bozrah shall become an astonishment, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes.

Jehovah of hosts hath sworn by himself, I will assuredly fill thee with men, as with caterpillars; and they shall raise a shout against thee.

And I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, and behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness; and I swore unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord Jehovah, and thou becamest mine.

And this shall be a false divination in their sight, for them that have sworn oaths; but he will call to remembrance the iniquity, that they may be taken.

And I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river; and he held up his right hand and his left hand unto the heavens, and swore by him that liveth for ever that it is for a time, times, and a half; and when the scattering of the power of the holy people shall be accomplished, all these things shall be finished.

Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, let not Judah trespass; and come ye not unto Gilgal, neither go up to Beth-aven, nor swear [supplied: As] Jehovah liveth!

תִּשָּׁבְע֖וּ ti.sha.ve.'U “you swear”

the Lord Jehovah hath sworn by his holiness, that behold, days shall come upon you, when he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fish-hooks;

נִשְׁבַּ֨ע nish.Ba' “he has sworn”

The Lord Jehovah hath sworn by himself, saith Jehovah, the God of hosts, I abhor the pride of Jacob, and hate his palaces; and I will deliver up the city with all that is therein.

Jehovah hath sworn by the glory of Jacob, Certainly I will never forget any of their works.

they that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, [supplied: As] thy god, O Dan, liveth! and, [supplied: As] the way of Beer-sheba liveth! even they shall fall, and never rise up again.

הַנִּשְׁבָּעִים֙ (נִּשְׁבָּעִים֙) nish.ba.'Im “[who] swear”

Thou wilt perform truth to Jacob, loving-kindness to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers, from the days of old.

נִשְׁבַּ֥עְתָּ nish.Ba'.ta “you swore”

and them that bow down to the host of the heavens upon the housetops; and them that bow down to Jehovah, that swear by [supplied: him], and swear by Malcham;

הַנִּשְׁבָּעִ֣ים (נִּשְׁבָּעִ֣ים) nish.ba.'Im “[who] swear an oath”וְהַנִּשְׁבָּעִ֖ים (נִּשְׁבָּעִ֖ים) nish.ba.'Im “[who] swear an oath”

And he said unto me, This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole land: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off according to it on this side; and every one that sweareth shall be cut off according to it on that side.

I will cause it to go forth, saith Jehovah of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name; and it shall lodge in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.

And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against the false swearers, and against those that oppress the hired servant in [supplied: his] wages, the widow and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger [supplied: from his right], and fear not me, saith Jehovah of hosts.
