The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst; the young children ask bread, no man breaketh it unto them.

שָׁ֣אֲלוּ Sha.'a.lu “they have asked for”

For the king of Babylon standeth at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination: he shaketh [supplied: his] arrows, he inquireth of the teraphim, he looketh in the liver.

שָׁאַ֣ל sha.'Al “he has enquired”

My people ask counsel of their stock, and their staff declareth unto them; for the spirit of whoredoms causeth [supplied: them] to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God:

יִשְׁאָ֔ל yish.'Al “he enquires”

And it came to pass, when the sun arose, that God prepared a sultry east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, so that he fainted; and he requested for himself that he might die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.

וַיִּשְׁאַ֤ל (יִּשְׁאַ֤ל) i.yish.'Al “he asked”

Both hands are for evil, to do it well. The prince asketh, and the judge [supplied: is there] for a reward; and the great [supplied: man] uttereth his soul's greed: and [supplied: together] they combine it.

שֹׁאֵ֔ל sho.'El “[is] asking”

Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Ask now the priests [supplied: concerning] the law, saying,

שְׁאַל־ she.'al- “ask”

Ask of Jehovah rain in the time of the latter rain; Jehovah will make lightnings, and he will give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.

שַׁאֲל֨וּ sha.'a.Lu “ask”
