They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt-offerings to Baal, which I commanded not, nor spoke it, neither came it into my mind:

עָלְתָ֖ה 'al.Tah “it came up”

Inquire, I pray thee, of the LORD for us; for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon maketh war against us; it may be that the LORD will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us.

וְיַעֲלֶ֖ה (יַעֲלֶ֖ה) ya.'a.Leh “he may go up”

Go up to Lebanon, and cry; and lift up thy voice in Bashan, and cry from the passages: for all thy lovers are destroyed.

עֲלִ֤י 'a.Li “go up”

When the princes of Judah heard these things, then they came up from the king's house to the house of the LORD, and sat down in the entry of the new gate of the LORD'S house.

וַיַּעֲל֥וּ (יַּעֲל֥וּ) i.ya.'a.Lu “they came up”

For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion to the LORD our God.

וְנַעֲלֶ֣ה (נַעֲלֶ֣ה) na.'a.Leh “we may go up”

And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

עָֽלְתָה֙ 'al.Tah “it had come up”

And Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes I will give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life, and into the hand of the king of Babylon's army, which are gone up from you.

הָעֹלִ֖ים (עֹלִ֖ים) 'o.Lim “have gone up”

But it came to pass, when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, that we said, Come, and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans, and for fear of the army of the Syrians: so we dwell at Jerusalem.

בַּעֲל֨וֹת (עֲל֨וֹת) 'a.Lot “came up”

Then Pharaoh's army had come from Egypt: and when the Chaldeans that besieged Jerusalem heard tidings of them, they departed from Jerusalem.

וַיֵּ֣עָל֔וּ (יֵּ֣עָל֔וּ) i.Ye.'a.Lu “they had taken themselves up”

And it came to pass, that when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh's army,

בְּהֵֽעָלוֹת֙ (הֵֽעָלוֹת֙) he.'a.lOt “had taken itself up”

The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye and your fathers, your kings and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind?

וַֽתַּעֲלֶ֖ה (תַּעֲלֶ֖ה) ta.'a.Leh “did it come up”

Who is this that cometh up as a flood, whose waters are moved as the rivers?

יַֽעֲלֶ֑ה ya.'a.Leh “he rises”

Egypt riseth up like a flood, and his waters are moved like the rivers; and he saith, I will go up, and will cover the earth; I will destroy the city and its inhabitants.

יַֽעֲלֶ֔ה ya.'a.Leh “it rises”אַֽעֲלֶה֙ 'a.'a.Leh “I will rise”

Come up, ye horses; and rage, ye chariots; and let the mighty men come forth: the Cushites and the Libyans, that handle the shield; and the Lydians that handle and bend the bow.

עֲל֤וּ 'a.Lu “go up”

Go up into Gilead, and take balm, O virgin, the daughter of Egypt: in vain shalt thou use many medicines; for thou shalt not be cured.

עֲלִ֤י 'a.Li “go up”

Thus saith the LORD; Behold, waters rise out of the north, and shall be an overflowing flood, and shall overflow the land, and all that is in it; the city, and them that dwell therein: then the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall howl.

עֹלִ֤ים 'o.Lim “[are] rising”

For in the ascent of Luhith continual weeping shall go up; for in the descent of Horonaim the enemies have heard a cry of destruction.

יַֽעֲלֶה־ ya.'a.leh- “someone will ascend”

Moab is laid waste, and gone up out of her cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the king, whose name is the LORD of hosts.

עָלָ֔ה 'a.Lah “he will go up”

Thou daughter that dost inhabit Dibon, come down from thy glory, and sit in thirst; for the spoiler of Moab shall come upon thee, and he shall destroy thy strong holds.

עָ֣לָה 'A.lah “he will come up”

He that fleeth from the fear, shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth out of the pit, shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring upon it, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation, saith the LORD.

וְהָֽעֹלֶה֙ (עֹלֶה֙) 'o.Leh “[one who] climbs up”

Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan against the habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?

יַעֲלֶ֨ה ya.'a.Leh “[which] it goes up”

Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread his wings over Bozrah: and at that day shall the heart of the mighty men of Edom be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.

יַעֲלֶ֣ה ya.'a.Leh “someone will ascend”

Concerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon shall smite, thus saith the LORD; Arise ye, go up to Kedar, and lay waste the men of the east.

עֲל֣וּ 'a.Lu “go up”

Arise, go up to the wealthy nation, that dwelleth without care, saith the LORD, which have neither gates nor bars, which dwell alone.

עֲל֗וּ 'a.Lu “go up”

For out of the north there cometh a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell in it, they shall remove, they shall depart, both man and beast.

עָלָה֩ 'a.Lah “it will go up”
