And he said to her, What is his form? And she said, An old man comes up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul knew that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.

עֹלֶ֔ה 'o.Leh “[is] coming up”

And Achish answered and said to David, I know that thou art acceptable to me, as an angel of God; nevertheless the princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle.

יַעֲלֶ֥ה ya.'a.Leh “he will go up”

And David rose up early, he and his men, to depart in the morning, to return into the land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went up to Jizreel.

עָל֥וּ 'a.Lu “they went up”

Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet with splendour, Who put ornaments of gold upon your apparel.

הַֽמַּעֲלֶה֙ (מַּעֲלֶה֙) ma.'a.Leh “brought up”

And it came to pass after this that David inquired of Jehovah, saying, Shall I go up into one of the cities of Judah? And Jehovah said to him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron.

הַאֶעֱלֶ֗ה (אֶעֱלֶ֗ה) 'e.'e.Leh “will I go up”עֲלֵ֑ה 'a.Leh “go up”אֶעֱלֶ֖ה 'e.'e.Leh “will I go up”

So David went up thither, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jizreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.

וַיַּ֤עַל (יַּ֤עַל) i.Ya.'al “he went up”

And Joab said, [supplied: As] God liveth, unless thou hadst spoken, surely then in the morning the people had gone up every one from following his brother.

נַעֲלָ֣ה na.'a.Lah “it had abandoned pursuit”

And the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, and all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard [supplied: of it], and went down to the stronghold.

וַיַּעֲל֥וּ (יַּעֲל֥וּ) i.ya.'a.Lu “they went up”

And David inquired of Jehovah, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? wilt thou give them into my hand? And Jehovah said to David, Go up; for I will certainly give the Philistines into thy hand.

הַאֶֽעֱלֶה֙ (אֶֽעֱלֶה֙) 'e.'e.Leh “will I go up”עֲלֵ֔ה 'a.Leh “go up”

And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

לַֽעֲל֑וֹת (עֲל֑וֹת) 'a.Lot “go up”

And David inquired of Jehovah; and he said, Thou shalt not go up; turn round behind them and come upon them opposite the mulberry-trees.

תַעֲלֶ֑ה ta.'a.Leh “you must go up”

and if so be that the king's wrath arise, and he say to thee, Why did ye go so near to the city to fight? did ye not know that they would shoot from the wall?

תַּעֲלֶה֙ ta.'a.Leh “it will rise”

And behold, Zadok also, and all the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God; and they set down the ark of God; and Abiathar went up, until all the people had passed completely out of the city.

וַיַּ֖עַל (יַּ֖עַל) i.Ya.'al “he went up”

But David went up by the ascent of the Olives, and wept as he went up, and had his head covered, and he went barefoot; and all the people that was with him covered every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up.

And it came to pass after they had departed, that they came up out of the well, and went and told king David; and they said to David, Arise and pass quickly over the water; for thus has Ahithophel counselled against you.

וַֽיַּעֲלוּ֙ (יַּעֲלוּ֙) i.ya.'a.Lu “they came up”

And the king was much moved, and went up to the upper chamber of the gate, and wept; and as he went, he said thus: O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! would God I had died in thy stead, O Absalom, my son, my son!

וַיַּ֛עַל (יַּ֛עַל) i.Ya.'al “he went up”

And Barzillai said to the king, How many are the days of the years of my life, that I should go up with the king to Jerusalem?

אֶעֱלֶ֥ה 'e.'e.Leh “I will go up”

Then all the men of Israel went up from after David, following Sheba the son of Bichri. But the men of Judah clave to their king, from the Jordan even to Jerusalem.

וַיַּ֜עַל (יַּ֜עַל) i.Ya.'al “he went up”

There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, And fire out of his mouth devoured: Coals burned forth from it.

עָלָ֤ה 'a.Lah “it went up”

And after him, Eleazar the son of Dodo the son of an Ahohite: he was one of the three mighty men with David, when they had defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone up.

וַֽיַּעֲל֖וּ (יַּעֲל֖וּ) i.ya.'a.Lu “they went up”

And Gad came that day to David, and said to him, Go up, rear an altar to Jehovah in the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

עֲלֵה֙ 'a.Leh “go up”

And David, according to the saying of Gad, went up as Jehovah had commanded.

וַיַּ֤עַל (יַּ֤עַל) i.Ya.'al “he went up”

And ye shall come up after him, that he may come and sit on my throne; for he shall reign in my stead, and I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah.

וַעֲלִיתֶ֣ם (עֲלִיתֶ֣ם) 'a.li.Tem “you will come up”

And all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound of them.

וַיַּעֲל֤וּ (יַּעֲל֤וּ) i.ya.'a.Lu “they went up”

and Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king at Gihon; and they are come up from thence rejoicing, so that the city is in an uproar. This is the noise which ye have heard.
