We are become as they over whom you never bear rule, as those who were not called by your name.

מֵֽעוֹלָם֙ (עוֹלָם֙) 'o.Lam “long ago”

For from of old men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither has the eye seen a God besides you, who works for him who waits for him.

וּמֵעוֹלָ֥ם (עוֹלָ֥ם) 'o.Lam “long ago”

You meet him who rejoices and works righteousness, those who remember you in your ways: behold, you were angry, and we sinned: in them [supplied: have we been] of long time; and shall we be saved?

עוֹלָ֖ם o.Lam “long duration”

For of old time I have broken your yoke, and burst your bonds; and you said, I will not serve; for on every high hill and under every green tree you did bow yourself, playing the prostitute.

מֵעוֹלָ֞ם (עוֹלָ֞ם) 'o.Lam “long ago”

Behold, I will bring a nation on you from far, house of Israel, says Yahweh: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language you don't know, neither understand what they say.

Thus says Yahweh, Stand you in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way; and walk therein, and you shall find rest for your souls: but they said, We will not walk [supplied: therein].

עוֹלָ֗ם o.Lam “ancient time”

then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, from of old even forevermore.

עוֹלָ֖ם o.Lam “antiquity”

For my people have forgotten me, they have burned incense to false [supplied: gods]; and they have been made to stumble in their ways, in the ancient paths, to walk in byways, in a way not built up;

עוֹלָ֔ם o.Lam “antiquity”

saying, Return you now everyone from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that Yahweh has given to you and to your fathers, from of old and even forevermore;

עוֹלָ֖ם o.Lam “antiquity”

The prophets who have been before me and before you of old prophesied against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence.

הָֽעוֹלָ֑ם (עוֹלָ֑ם) 'o.Lam “antiquity”

He has made me to dwell in dark places, as those that have been long dead.

then will I bring you down with those who descend into the pit, to the people of old time, and will make you to dwell in the lower parts of the earth, in the places that are desolate of old, with those who go down to the pit, that you be not inhabited; and I will set glory in the land of the living:

Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Because the enemy has said against you, Aha! and, The ancient high places are ours in possession;

A day of darkness and gloominess, A day of clouds and thick darkness. As the dawn spreading on the mountains, A great and strong people; There has never been the like, Neither will there be any more after them, Even to the years of many generations.

הָ֣עוֹלָ֔ם (עוֹלָ֔ם) 'o.Lam “antiquity”

In that day I will raise up the tent of David who is fallen, and close up its breaches, and I will raise up its ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old;

עוֹלָֽם׃ o.Lam “antiquity”

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Being small among the clans of Judah, Out of you one will come forth to me that is to be ruler in Israel; Whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.

Shepherd your people with your staff, The flock of your heritage, Who dwell by themselves in a forest, In the midst of fertile pasture land, let them feed; In Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.

Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasant to Yahweh, as in the days of old, and as in ancient years.
