Behold, the eyes of the Lord Jehovah are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth: only that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith Jehovah.

לֹ֣א lo' “not”

For behold, I command, and I will shake the house of Israel to and fro among all the nations, like as one shaketh [supplied: corn] in a sieve; yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth.

וְלֹֽא־ (לֹֽא) lo'- “not”

All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, who say, Evil shall not overtake nor befall us.

לֹֽא־ lo'- “not”

And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be plucked up out of their land which I have given them, saith Jehovah thy God.

וְלֹ֨א (לֹ֨א) Lo' “not”

If thieves had come to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen [supplied: till] they had had enough? If grape-gatherers had come to thee, would they not have left some gleanings?

Shall I not in that day, saith Jehovah, destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?

For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the nations drink continually; yea, they shall drink, and shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.

כְּל֥וֹא (ל֥וֹא) Lo' “not”

And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble; and they shall kindle in them and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau: for Jehovah hath spoken [supplied: it].

וְלֹֽא־ (לֹֽא) lo'- “not”

And the shipmaster came to him, and said unto him, What meanest thou, sleeper? arise, call upon thy God; perhaps God will think upon us, that we perish not.

But the men rowed hard to regain the land; but they could not; for the sea grew more and more tempestuous against them.

Who knoweth but that God will turn and repent, and will turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?

וְלֹ֥א (לֹ֥א) Lo' “not”

And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil that he had said he would do unto them, and he did [supplied: it] not.

וְלֹ֥א (לֹ֥א) Lo' “not”

And he prayed unto Jehovah, and said, Ah, Jehovah, was not this my saying when I was yet in my country? Therefore I was minded to flee at first unto Tarshish; for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great loving-kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.

And Jehovah said, Thou hast pity on the gourd, for which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night:

and I, should not I have pity on Nineveh, the great city, wherein are more than a hundred and twenty thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?

For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. Whence is the transgression of Jacob? is it not [supplied: from] Samaria? And whence are the high places of Judah? are they not [supplied: from] Jerusalem?

Pass away, inhabitress of Shaphir, in nakedness [supplied: and] shame. The inhabitress of Zaanan is not come forth for the lamentation of Beth-ezel: he will take from you its shelter.

Therefore thus saith Jehovah: Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, from which ye shall not remove your necks; neither shall ye walk haughtily: for it is an evil time.

Therefore thou shalt have none that shall cast the measuring line upon a lot, in the congregation of Jehovah.

Prophesy ye not, they prophesy. If they do not prophesy to these, the ignominy will not depart.

O thou [supplied: that art] named the house of Jacob, Is Jehovah impatient? are these his doings? Do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly?

Arise ye, and depart; for this is not the resting-place, because of defilement that bringeth destruction, even a grievous destruction.

And I said, Hear, I pray you, ye heads of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel: Is it not for you to know judgment?

Then shall they cry unto Jehovah, but he will not answer them; and he will hide his face from them at that time, according as they have wrought evil in their doings.

Thus saith Jehovah concerning the prophets that cause my people to err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace! but whoso putteth not into their mouths they prepare war against him:
