H1219–בָּצַר–ba.tsar

And it came to pass in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, that Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah, and took them.

הַבְּצֻר֖וֹת (בְּצֻר֖וֹת) be.tzu.Rot “fortified”

Hast thou not heard that long ago I did it, and that from ancient days I formed it? Now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest lay waste fortified cities [supplied: into] ruinous heaps.

בְּצֻרֽוֹת׃ be.tzu.Rot “fortified”

Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: They shall thoroughly glean like a vine the remnant of Israel: turn back thy hand, as a grape-gatherer unto the baskets.

כְּבוֹצֵ֖ר (בוֹצֵ֖ר) vo.Tzer “a grape gatherer”

And I will make thee unto this people a strong brazen wall; and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee, to save thee and to deliver thee, saith Jehovah;

בְּצוּרָ֔ה be.tzu.Rah “fortified”

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and I will shew thee great and hidden things, which thou knowest not.

וּבְצֻר֖וֹת (בְצֻר֖וֹת) ve.tzu.Rot “incomprehensible [things]”

If grape-gatherers had come to thee, would they not have left a gleaning? If thieves by night, they would destroy only till they had enough.

בֹּֽצְרִים֙ bo.tze.Rim “grape gatherers”

Though Babylon should mount up to the heavens, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith Jehovah.

תְבַצֵּ֖ר te.va.Tzer “it will fortify”

Appoint a way for the coming of the sword to Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and to Judah at the fenced [supplied: city] of Jerusalem.

בְּצוּרָֽה׃ be.tzu.Rah “fortified”

And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities [supplied: are] fortified [supplied: and] inhabited.

בְּצוּר֥וֹת be.tzu.Rot “[are] fortified”

For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples; and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.

If thieves had come to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen [supplied: till] they had had enough? If grape-gatherers had come to thee, would they not have left some gleanings?

a day of the trumpet and alarm, against the fenced cities and against the high battlements.
