And David's men said unto him, Behold, we are afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we go to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?

וְאַף֙ (אַף֙) 'Af “indeed?”

How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed, shall I not now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?

אַ֞ף 'af “indeed?”

And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, who came forth from my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more [supplied: may] this Benjamite now [supplied: do it]? let him alone, and let him curse; for Jehovah hath bidden him.

וְאַ֨ף (אַ֨ף) 'Af “indeed?”

And he went through all the tribes of Israel unto Abel, and to Beth-maacah, and all the Berites: and they were gathered together, and went also after him.

But will God in very deed dwell on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded!

And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is Jehovah, the God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they were divided hither and thither; and Elisha went over.

And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?

Now Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus saith Jehovah, Ye have forsaken me, therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.

Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you after this manner, neither believe ye him; for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of my hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of my hand?

And I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me, as also of the king's words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for the good [supplied: work].

Yea, when they had made them a molten calf, and said, This is thy God that brought thee up out of Egypt, and had wrought great provocations;

In those days saw I in Judah some men treading wine-presses on the sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses [supplied: therewith]; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified [supplied: against them] in the day wherein they sold victuals.

Haman said moreover, Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and to-morrow also am I invited by her together with the king.

How much more them that dwell in houses of clay, Whose foundation is in the dust, Who are crushed before the moth!

אַ֤ף׀ 'af “also”

Yea, ye would cast [supplied: lots] upon the fatherless, And make merchandise of your friend.

אַף־ 'af- “even”

How much less shall I answer him, And choose out my words [supplied: to reason] with him?

And dost thou open thine eyes upon such a one, And bringest me into judgment with thee?

אַף־ 'af- “indeed?”

Yea, thou doest away with fear, And hinderest devotion before God.

אַף־ 'af- “also”

How much less one that is abominable and corrupt, A man that drinketh iniquity like water!

אַ֭ף 'af “indeed?”

And be it indeed that I have erred, Mine error remaineth with myself.

וְאַף־ (אַף) 'af- “even”

How much less man, that is a worm! And the son of man, that is a worm!
